ok, so i was able to unbolt the top of the upper ball joint from the upper control arm but i cant get it off of the spindle and i can not detach the lower call joint at either point. any suggestions? car is an 82 fiat spider, thanks

Hit it with a hammer!! If not then you can get a little tool from the likes of Halfords that will go in between and then pop the ball joint out. Only cost £10 or so!

Good luck

ok, i was able to completely remover the upper ball joint from the spindle with an impact hammer and from the upper control arm with a socket, i also removed the lower ball joint from the spindle but not the lower control arm because there are no bolts holding it in, its some sort of rivot, can i pry it open? thanks

What are you trying to do? Should have really used a ball joint splitter to avoid damage.

im trying to replace all 4 ball joints, the upper 2 came out no problem but i now know that i need a ball joint splitter to remover the lower ones from the lower control arms
