Removing the seats? Sweet Jesus!

For the love of me I can't figure out how the seats are removed, they are on these rail things. Where are the bolts? I even checked under the car, I am royally confused. Thanks for your help guys.

Re: Removing the seats? Sweet Jesus!

The fact you have to ask suggests you have the earlier design which doesn't have bolts - the rails are welded to the floor!

If that is the case you have to release the spring under the seat and then just slide the seat off the rails.

If it is the later design there is a bolt at the front and rear of each rail that requires the seat to be pushed into the extreme positions to access them. The rears aren't so bad but the front ones are very tricky to get to as the seat still gets in the way even when pushed all the way to the back.

Re: Removing the seats? Sweet Jesus!

Early 1500's had the spring (when the car was assembled at least). It was only when Bertone took over the operation that the seat mountings were changed.

Re: Removing the seats? Sweet Jesus!

If its a 1500 there will be 4 bolts that attach the rails to the floorpan. First slide the seat forward loosen the 2 allen bolts, pull it back as far as it will go and loosen the bolts. The rails are slotted so the seat should lift out.
If its a 1300 then there are a few variations but if my memory serves me correctly you should pull the seat forward as far as is possible and it should with some persuasion come off the rails. Some have got a hefty spring attaching the seat to the floor. Disconnect this first obviously. The 1300 bottom rails are welded in.
Good luck I ended up using a 4"x2" plank to help lever the seat forward.

Not forgetting "Barchetta" but this one really floats. Probably the only Fiat TD powered boat. It seemed like a good idea at the time!

Re: Removing the seats? Sweet Jesus!

got the passenger one removed

i found it easier to ram the seat forward first then disconnect the spring (hope i haven't damaged it)

now to start examining the rust on the floor
