| Radio Installation X1/9 I need some help. Where is the radio supposed to go in a 1978 1300 X1/9? The car I bought had an aerial fitted in the front wing and a DIN sized slot in the centre of the dashboard which was covered by a aluminium plate. When I removed the plate there was a wire with a female in-line fuse holder that I think may have been a power supply for a radio. BUT there's no way that you could get a radio in the DIN slot and have it flush with the dash because the rear of the radio would come up hard against the front screen demister ducting. All suggestions welcome.

| Re: Radio Installation X1/9 Hello, The 1300 didn't as far as I know come with a radio as standard. The dash was originally plain and flat and without a radio. For those that wanted a radio back in the day, there was an after-market 'pod' available. It sounds as if your dash has already been cut out for a radio with the use of this pod. I would suggest a scrapie or Fiat parts specialist to source this part. The following image should show this; ![]() If your dash hadn't already been cut I would have advised not to do it, and find another way of fitting a radio. Back in the 70's there was available a mounting case that put the radio vertically up against the outer side of the foot well. These make the car look more original and are less obtrusive.
