| Height Restriction Hi, I'm thinking about buying an X1/9 but have heard conflicting stories about the problems of being too tall to fit in one. I'm 6'2" and am wondering if anyone as tall or taller has experience of how comfortable I'd be in one of these little beauties? thanks

| Re: Height Restriction The big limitation isn't so much how tall you are so much as how long your legs are. I've known a few owners over 6'2" and they've all fitted fine (if a little tight) but I'm only 5'10" and I can *only* just fit in thanks to having long legs. I haven't had a road legal exxy for many years and the permanent bruise on my left knee has only just healed up...

| Re: Height Restriction I'm 6ft2 and I fit into an Exxy no problem. The only issue is the steering wheel rubbing on my knees, but it's easily solved. Go on, get one

| Re: Height Restriction im 5'11'', and its a bit uncofortable for me because i too have long legs, and the steering wheel is "in my knees" if I cut off my feet from the ankle down it would be as roomy as any other small car

| Re: Height Restriction Thanks for the opinions, it sounds like i'll just have to try it and see. I hope I fit in as i've wanted one of these cars for a few years now and it would be a shame if i had to amptutate my feet to get one.

| Re: Height Restriction I'm 6ft5,and I can fit inside my X1/9.......just......although I haven't driven it for any great distance yet as it's a restoration project so can't comment on comfort!. Mine seems to have quite a small steering wheel,so that helps with knee room, and with a 36" inside leg measurement,I need a lot of help!.

| Re: Height Restriction I'm 6' exactly, and fit in an X fairly snugly. I do have the benefit of short legs though. My left leg presses on the steering wheel rather annoyingly when I have my foot over the clutch, but if you remove the (frankly rubbish) left foot rest plate (3x10mm nuts) then you will have plenty of room for your feet, and can move your leg away from the steering wheel. What I do find annoying is that the pedals are all so high in an X. I need to do a clutch and brake master cylinder soon (swine of a job) and will be looking into shimming the steering wheel up a tad, and possibly lowering the pedals a tad too. a few mm here and there will make all the difference.

| Re: Height Restriction You could just buy the car and go for a smaller steering wheel. Dave.

| Re: Height Restriction Im about 6,2 and with a few mods i fit in really well. First off was a smaller steering wheel, i bought a sparco one thats pretty much as small as you can legally go. Remove the foot rest as said, and we also got rid of the inertia reel seat belt. by removing this and installing a fixed belt the seat can go back an extra 100mm, which makes it positivly spacious!

| Re: Height Restriction I'm 6'3". I don't remember my previous x1/9 (1978 1300) being as tight as my current model (1980 1500). With shoes on My legs are uncomfortably close to the bottom of the wheel. Also I find my shoes turn the 3 pedals into what feels like 1 single pedal. Without shoes ... it feels good. It drops my feet/legs a little and also the extra reach without the shoe soul helps. I would prefer to get even more reach (I might investigate that removal of the seat belt inertia reel) I can't possibly heal-toe at all due to the angle of my feet and knee joints etc. I'd still like to investigate a smaller wheel. The previous owner put on a momo wheel which is still same diameter as the original but I think it is actually closer to the dash (I don't know). Aside: ICSUNONOVE - Got any details about that SPARCO wheel??? Regards Keith

| Re: Height Restriction I also found that, i cant where shoes that are to wide, there is just no space. I opted for using the sides of my foot as heal and toe does not work, atleast not with my big feet.
