My first post as a new forum member.

Having owned a couple of X19's in the past (late eighties) I am now thinking of buying one again, to use as a weekend/summer fun car.

My questions is this...

While I loved the handling of these cars, and the overall driving experience, has anyone ever experienced the 'going lite at the front' effect at speed? Both my previous x's suffered from this, with the steering becoming increasing less responsive the faster you went. At the time I owned these cars the only 'solution' was to add extra weight to the front in the form of a bag of cement or sand! Have things moved on at all since then?

I'm on my 2nd car now and have never experinced this. There's a lot to be said for having it properly set up (tracking, geometry, tyre pressures etc). If you get that right Exxy's are a joy to drive, even at speed.

Hope you take the plunge and get another one. The UK owners club is a good source of advice with a brilliant forum (for members).

Yeah, really hoping to be able to get another one soon - maybe this weekend if plans come off!!

Got to sell my current car as well though - so might take a bit longer.
Anyway, assuming I do get an X again, I will be making sure it's all set up correctly etc. Have lots of time to spend on it - so hoping to get it just right for next summer.

Get the geometry sorted and if you can afford it get the suspension lowered by an inch (this used to be off-the-shelf parts but I am not sure it is still that easy).

The problem is definitely there but stems from (as already mentioned) misaligned suspension, worn parts and a little too much air getting under the front of the car. If you make sure all of the front end trim is properly and securely fitted you should find it is a little more reliable in terms of handling.
