My first question ever on this forum.
I noticed the driveshaft boot is split on the gearbox side of our X19. Is it just a matter of removing those bolts with some key and repalcing the split boot or do you have to dismantle the shock absorber etc from the wheel too?

Ive had 3 X19s, first was in 1982, this one has been in the family since 1989. It is a 1500 of 1986 vintage (based in Worcestershire, UK). It is years since I have seen another X19 on the road. The fact that this forum exists is encouraging.

Hi Kevin,
The driveshaft is removable without removing anything else. The six bolts either side (12 in total) are removed with an Allen key. First you may need to dig out the dirt and grease in the head of the bolts to get the Allen key in sufficiently. A big spanner on the end of the Allen key to give some leverage will help.
Once off the cv joint is held in place with a large circlip, a pair of long nose pliers may be enough to price the clip open and remove the cv joint.
Eurosport probably have the boots in stock.
Cheers
Guy
