newbie with questions

Hey,
I lost my baby to a bad driver last Monday, REALLY BAD.


Anyway, there's an 81 X 1/9 near me and I've always liked 'em so I'm thinking of getting it and wondering what to check for on one specifically.
Rust.
I've read the FI in the early years was questionable.
Babe in the woods here.
It's close enough I can go look and drive and all that (unlike the Opel GT I lost, that I bought site unseen, worked out okay but not preferred).

Thanks, test drove it. No rust issues. Interior pretty ratty, torn seat and "dirty" carpet pretty bad, glove box hinge ruined. Started well, no leaks, drove well, seemed to fight me downshifting though, met resistance and it wanted to "chunk" into gear going back to 3rd or 2nd mostly, could be because it was a bit cold but maybe synchros are going out?
Can have for $3200 but I'll either pass or offer less. Still ruminating on it.
