Hi,
here are some pictures of a racing X1/9 construction.
The but is to make a racing car with a restrictive budget.
That's why I chose the turbo engine conversion.

I update this post as long I make my modifications.

Regards

Steve

The first step is to weld the floor panel, because it was rusty.

The front compartiment is cut for better airflow.

The two air "outake" for hot air extraction

The engine bay is empty and a little cut for receiving the turbo engine from an uno turbo or punto gt.

I hope I found an engine a soon.

I make two small metal sheet's to hide the light bay.

The metal sheet is welded.

And now covered with mastic past.

An another sheet metal is deflated for the rear bonnet compartiment.

I make bonnet clips whit M10 screews

before

after

The next step is making the rool cage. I hesitate betwin a ready to fit roll cage (like OMP) or to make myself the roll cage.

I want to transfer the fuel tank in the front compartiment, but I d'nt have a good idea at this time. If somebody have a good idea, please tell me.

I hope I can post new pictures soon.

Sorry, for my poor english speaking and thank's for reading me.

Steve

Hello I'm from Switzerland in the Alpes mountains, and you ?

I'm very glad that my project interest you.

I have an another 1978 x1/9 stock version with 1300cc motor, that I will make some modifications ( I have already 38DCEO Webber and a Kent cam),
But I don't have all the time I will have to do everythings I want to make.

The front of the car is finished...

But need some paint...

The lot of parts I have dismantled...

After a short pause I'm be back to my work.
Finally I decided to make custom rollcage myself.
I started to welding support plates of 120cm2 by 3mm thikness for the FIA standard.

rear support plate 3mm

front support plate 3mm

The first part of the rollcage is in place.

The tube is to 45x2.5mm for the main arche.

The reste of the rollcage is in 40x2mm for the rest of the pole.

You can found more information for rollcage on fia internet site art 253.

At next....
