Your mate is a cock if most of his cars end up like that!

im still a bit 50/50 on the meshed grill idea

I'm not a big fan of meshed grills either, and removing the centre of the mk2 Uno grill makes it look like a Nove GTE!

Re: meshed grill conv

Have meshed the grill and bumper part on the rally car, but not removed any plastic, but this time to do something ie keep cr*p out of the radiator and oil cooler. Does work well and makes cleaning easily as you can wipe away the bugs, grass mud etc... that would have been in the rad.

Re: meshed grill conv

Hi i compared the front end of all the uno's on the web, and because my car is white and a lot of it colour coded it looks too white needs something to break it up,( standardy) thats why i never did the bumpers or kit but on the other hand i've many pics all colour coded that looks great anyway its a spare i had knocking about, and i've just bought a turbo ie badge for the grill . when i put the rear spoiler on i couldnt believe what a difference it made SWEET! i dont see many of the top end uno's with standard grills, i'm going for it and i'l do a step by step pic thing for any one else who's interested any opinions warmly accepted ANT!

Re: meshed grill conv

stage, 2 i actualy got to do a bit on the grill on sunday after fixing the rear top shock mounts and twiddling the exhaust, first step was to remove the old slats, i used an airsaw, you could use a hacksaw blade eg then sand down the pround, prominent excess plastic, next you need to reinforce where you have removed the slats i used the old bits of slat, see pics and bond them on using a 2 pack quality plastic adhesive(i used wurth free from work) so won't crack and will last, well thats about as far as i got, just need to sand down, and a nice skim of filler, paint and fit the mesh, ive collected 3 types of mesh but cant make my mind up oh well!

Re: meshed grill conv

But... the car wasn't designed by Pininfarina.

I thought it was an Italdesign but I could be wrong.

For the love of god don't stick a Pininfarina badge on it, especially if you want us to take your meshing of the grille seriously. I personally believe meshing the grille in a dark-ish mesh suits the Mk2 unoturbo, but only with a flushed tailgate and if the car's in a dark colour.

Re: meshed grill conv

No way am i barn dooring, spoiling the rear of my UT, Ive compared the grills on mk2s and the meshed looks good thats why they all have them, only seems to be mk1 owners who moan as they cant do it, the pininfarina badge was off my 127 1300 gt years ago, what about the scorpion! whats happening with your car its looked like that for a long time now
