calipers

hello .

I have a fiat uno 45 1990 999c.
I had some problem with my brakes , my frong right well was alwas making noises like to brake is pressed all the time , so i replace the pades and the discs on both wells becuase the were overused , but i cannot find how i can adjust the calipers the the new sizeof the pads , becuse the old one were so slim the pump is almost at the ege and i cant find how i can make it go back inside so it will fit to the new pads .
anyone know how i can adjust the calipers ?
or should i just go and buy some new one`s , and how much does it costs ???

If they're the right pads - the piston will squeeze* back inside the caliper, and the pads will then fit - but you'll need to take the top off the master cylinder and remove some of the brake fluid (if it's been properly topped up as the pads have worn.

Take care with the fluid - it's aggressive stuff.
It eats paint, and is very inflammable.

*I often use the wooden handle of a hammer as a lever, holding the hammer "wrong way around", to push the piston back in.

I found an amazingly simple way to do this is too use a small portable g-clamp and just screw it down into the piston. Minimum effort required it just pushes the piston back in as you tighten it up.

Do keep your eye on the fluid resevoir as you do it tho as mentioned above!

Never know when I might need to know what a skrutvinge is!

Being from Norway I woonder if you can help me.

Have you ever heard of a place with a spelling of something similar to:

Stockhej/Stochej/Stockhaj it might be a mountain, a high point or something similar. It comes from something I read in the past but I can't remember anything about it, not even spelling or which scandinavian country it is in.

Cheers, I will let you know why I am interested if you have any idea :)

Paul

Yeah, I know, but I was after something more like "stockhej" or similar. I will have to keep looking. I read somewhere it was a high point or similar somewhere around your area.

THanks anyway. :)
