How to build a Mk1 Uno Turbo 200bph engine !

Hello..

Finally started my project, which I would like to call "FerrUNO" Ferr of Ferrari as the car is going to be painted in Ferrari Red. More about the car will come in another post. Sorry for my frequently bad english

The car/enigine is an 1986 Fiat Turbo I.E ( Mk1 ) 1.3l
The car is not going to be registrated on the road for ordinary road use

My plan is to get around 200bhp of the engine, but iam not very experienced in engine tuning. What kind of modifications should I do ?

This is some parts that I've already purchased :
- Brand new uppgrade Mitsubishi Evo8 IC ( Good for 4-500hk) ( BIG! )
- Brand new Clutch from techniclutch in england. Should hold 220bhp or so.
- ('95) Saab 9000T Injectors

Planning to purchase:
- Building new custum exhoust system 2.5" the whole way.
- Chip the engine management ( If its possible ?!? )
- Upgrade the turbo with a larger exhoust-house ?!?! ( is it necesary ? )

Haven't buyed so much parts yet, but i have the whole winter on me to build the car !

Any suggestions on parts that I should buy, and what I should do to make a "200bhp" engine ?

Out of interest why have you bought these for a Fiat Uno project?

Buyed the IC because the orginal was so small, and because it will look very nice on the car ! Got it cheap to
The clutch because the orginal on the engine is done, and i wanted something stronger that will last.
Saab injectors because they will give more fuel than the stock ones, with a another fuel regulator.

Anybody know if the bottom of the engine will hold 200bhp, before I have to change rods and so ?

Re: How to build a Mk1 Uno Turbo 200bph engine !

lightened and balanced bottom end,
lightened flywheel
fast road piper cam
ported head with matched manifolds
oversize pistons
Hybrid Turbo
Fse Boost valve
K&N filter
Scorpion Exhaust
sierra Cosworth intercooler
samco turbo and coolant hose's

p.s the standard management cannot be chipped. i'm eventually going to get a dta or omex management

Re: How to build a Mk1 Uno Turbo 200bph engine !

You could use a 5th and 6th injector set up for circa 190bhp. The additional injector route isnt the best but its cheap costing around 200 for injectors and controller.

I am slowly getting around to converting my uno to run punto gt managment but my uno lives miles away at my parents and all i have achieved so far is collecting all the bits. This isnt an easy route and as yet i havent heard of anyone doing it but as the gt ecu can be chipped (i have that too) 200bhp shouldn't be a problem.

First of all, nice project!

You defenetly need a bigger turbo.. The stock turbo (IHI VL2/3) can not produce more than 130 hp..

Re: How to build a Mk1 Uno Turbo 200bph engine !

You can use the standard manifold, if you build an adapter for the specified turbo..

Many people use Td04 12-16 with good results..

Nice project! And welcome to the forum

Since it's not for road use, (and presumably therefore only needs to have 200bhp occasionally) have you thought about using nitrous?

Although I have no experience of it myself, I understand that nitrous (nitrous oxide, 'Noz') is particularly good for turbocharged engines since it cools the intake air charge, offsetting some of the temperature from the pressure increase.

Thank you... Just so you know, my real name is Anders

NOS is not an option, It will be the cheapest of course, but I will build the motor in the old way, with larger turbo and so on.. There is not many places in Norway you can fill up an empty NOS bottle

Re: How to build a Mk1 Uno Turbo 200bph engine !

Okey, heres another set up I have thought about :

Found a Fiat Uno MK2/Punto Turbo 1.4l Ex-manifoild with engineered channels for better flow ( With a garret turbo flens as standard )
And a Garett GT25 or GT28 ?

How about that ?

Or should i go for a orginal manifoild, and get welded a new flens for a Mitsubishi TD04 16T Turbo ?

And the key is also now, what will be best on my 200bhp engine ?
