Hello..

Finally started my project, which I would like to call "FerrUNO" Ferr of Ferrari as the car is going to be painted in Ferrari Red. More about the car will come in another post. Sorry for my frequently bad english :yuck:

The car/enigine is an 1986 Fiat Turbo I.E ( Mk1 ) 1.3l
The car is not going to be registrated on the road for ordinary road use

My plan is to get around 200bhp of the engine, but iam not very experienced in engine tuning. What kind of modifications should I do ?

This is some parts that I've already purchased :
- Brand new uppgrade Mitsubishi Evo8 IC ( Good for 4-500hk) ( BIG! )
- Brand new Clutch from techniclutch in england. Should hold 220bhp or so.
- ('95) Saab 9000T Injectors

Planning to purchase:
- Building new custum exhoust system 2.5" the whole way.
- Chip the engine management ( If its possible ?!? )
- Upgrade the turbo with a larger exhoust-house ?!?! ( is it necesary ? )

Haven't buyed so much parts yet, but i have the whole winter on me to build the car !

Any suggestions on parts that I should buy, and what I should do to make a "200bhp" engine ?

Out of interest why have you bought these for a Fiat Uno project?

Buyed the IC because the orginal was so small, and because it will look very nice on the car ! Got it cheap to (y)
The clutch because the orginal on the engine is done, and i wanted something stronger that will last.
Saab injectors because they will give more fuel than the stock ones, with a another fuel regulator.

Anybody know if the bottom of the engine will hold 200bhp, before I have to change rods and so ?

mk1 engine can hold 200bhp no probs

Nice, that is saving me from spending alot of money (y)

But any suggestions on witch modifications i should do to the engine ?

my engine has the following

lightened and balanced bottom end,
lightened flywheel
fast road piper cam
ported head with matched manifolds
oversize pistons
Hybrid Turbo
Fse Boost valve
K&N filter
Scorpion Exhaust
sierra Cosworth intercooler
samco turbo and coolant hose's

p.s the standard management cannot be chipped. i'm eventually going to get a dta or omex management

You could use a 5th and 6th injector set up for circa 190bhp. The additional injector route isnt the best but its cheap costing around 200 for injectors and controller.

I am slowly getting around to converting my uno to run punto gt managment but my uno lives miles away at my parents and all i have achieved so far is collecting all the bits. This isnt an easy route and as yet i havent heard of anyone doing it but as the gt ecu can be chipped (i have that too) 200bhp shouldn't be a problem.

First of all, nice project!:)

You defenetly need a bigger turbo.. The stock turbo (IHI VL2/3) can not produce more than 130 hp..

What kind of turbo should i look after, and can i use the orginal manifoild on it ?

You can use the standard manifold, if you build an adapter for the specified turbo..

Many people use Td04 12-16 with good results..

Id say start at every aspect of the engine

If you want a usable 200, then check this mk1 (old spec tho!......but damm fast!):

JAJA'S UNO TURBO MK
fetch.dll

ENGINE/SUSPENSION/BRAKE MODS !!!!!!
k&n air filter
scorpion 4" exhaust system
Fiat Uno 70 N/A cam
gas flowed and ported head
3 angled valve seats
sach boge clutch
5th & 6th injector
lightened and balanced flywheel
MK 2 uno turbo manifold
Turbo Technics garrett hybrid
cosworth intercooler
relocated mocal oil cooler
Grp N head gasket
boost currently set at 1bar without the 6th injector set up ( can handle 2 bar with 6th injector )
splitfire leads
bosch 4 point plugs
turbo excess 110db @10psi dump valve
tarox 6 groove discs
EBC fast road pads
AVO ridehieght / damping adjustable coilovers
OMP front strut brace
OMP rear strut brace

BODY MODS AND STUFF !!!!!!!
15" compomotive mo's in white
de-badged / de-locked
MK2 back bumper

v|ncenT^, (a tricky name to spell right!)

Nice project! And welcome to the forum :)

Since it's not for road use, (and presumably therefore only needs to have 200bhp occasionally) have you thought about using nitrous?

Although I have no experience of it myself, I understand that nitrous (nitrous oxide, 'Noz') is particularly good for turbocharged engines since it cools the intake air charge, offsetting some of the temperature from the pressure increase.

(or should that be ->A13x ;))

Thank you... Just so you know, my real name is Anders (y)

NOS is not an option, It will be the cheapest of course, but I will build the motor in the old way, with larger turbo and so on.. There is not many places in Norway you can fill up an empty NOS bottle (n)

Okey, heres another set up I have thought about :

Found a Fiat Uno MK2/Punto Turbo 1.4l Ex-manifoild with engineered channels for better flow ( With a garret turbo flens as standard )
And a Garett GT25 or GT28 ?

How about that ? :chin:

Or should i go for a orginal manifoild, and get welded a new flens for a Mitsubishi TD04 16T Turbo ?

And the key is also now, what will be best on my 200bhp engine ?

getting to the magic 200bhp can be done in a number of ways. HUGE turbo and loads of boost, or more engine based mods. also, depends how drivable you want the car?

any of the turbos u have mentioned above id have thought would have been acceptable to achive the 200bhp and still be driveable and not too laggy

Dunc

Ive been been thinking of the turbo for a while and have aquired a t25 from a saab with 3k and warranted for 50 notes from a friend, he he just waiting for my t2 to smoke i believe this is a sensible route t25 t28

Scorpion 3.5" system
induction kit/uprated air filter
T25 turbo through Mk2 manfiold @ 1.6BAR
FSE fuel pressure regulator tuned for 98RON (shell optimax) petrol
good clutch

SHOULD bring you pretty damn close on their own!!

Heh heh, not too sure if I'd try that. appetite for detonation :)

My aimed spec' goes a little something like this...

1301cc block
sachs clutch
high lift cam (unbranded)
FSE fpr ratio OR lancia delta integrale fuel pressure regulator, I have both, one should work better than the other...
Magnacor leads, NGK plugs, 97RON petrol...
T28 turbocharger @ 1.2BAR
Twin piston dump valve
5th injector
4x capacity intercooler
4.5" tailpipe, scorpion exhaust system

Hoping to get 180bhp out of that, then I'll go onto...
Vernier Pulley
cold air box
Samco hoses
Lightened & balanced bottom end
Lightened & balanced flywheel
Ported & Polished head
6th injector, uprated fuel pump, boost controller (max boost @ 1.8BAR)

Hoping for 230bhp with this spec'

Do yourself a favor and buy a half decent aftermarket ECU. I know its expensive but its not really that expensive overall.

Anything near or over 200 and i think its worth it. I dont want the hassle and cost of mapping, and in any case 190 - 200 bhp will suit the car fine.

There was a feature on after market ECU's in this months practical performance car mag and it was very interesting. I do suggest if you cant afford one you dont read it, you'll get very tempted at the thought of launch control and antilag obviously not forgetting the main benefits of it!
