Mk1 or Mk2 Turbo

Hello, I hope that you Fiat people don't mind me joining this forum to ask a simple question.

A friend of mine has asked me to sell the contents of his shed on ebay, amongst other things he has a Fiat Uno Turbo engine and gearbox, what I need to know is whether they are Mk1 bits or Mk2 bits.

I have attached a picture of the engine, hopefully it will be glaringly obvious to a Uno enthusiast what type of engine it is.

Cheers.
Neil

Re: Mk1 or Mk2 Turbo

Thank you Beau and Dunc, answers much appreciated.

It is a very tidy engine as it is brand new, never run. It was intended to be dropped into an X-19 but the project was never completed, I thought about finishing it myself but I have several project cars on the go and can never find enough time to sort those out.

Re: Mk1 or Mk2 Turbo

This is a 1.3L engine. All mk1's have a 1.3L. Depending where you live, some Mk2's also have the 1.3L engine.

Re: Mk1 or Mk2 Turbo

I will be putting it on ebay some time this week so keep an eye open for it if you are interested, I'll probably list it at £100 with no reserve as I have no idea what it is worth.

I am tempted to buy for it myself but as I said earlier with several other cars awaiting attention it will be several years (if ever!) before I start doing something with it.

I think that the original plan of putting it in an X-19 would make a superb car, I wonder if it would fit a Cinquecento! that would be quite amusing!

Re: Mk1 or Mk2 Turbo

i'm interested in this, please could you keep me posted when you list it on ebay or if you will take a private sale. Is there a receipt for the engine? Where are you based? Cheers Andy

Re: Mk1 or Mk2 Turbo

I don't think I will sell the engine privately, the main reason being that I don't know how much it is worth. I will be listing it on ebay sometime this week, my ebay name is the same as on here and I have started listing several other Fiat bits, I have loads of bits, X-19 and Uno to go on so I am spending many happy(?) hours here listing them on Turbolister.

I don't think there is a receipt for the engine, as far as I know it was bought between 6 and 10 years ago for the X-19 project.

I am in Colchester and the engine is in Bury St. Edmunds.

Cheers Neil

Re: Mk1 or Mk2 Turbo

Hello. I own a fiat uno turbo and am interested in the engine. Do you know if it fits in a continental car? I ask it because of the position of the steerin wheel?

I´m waiting for your answer. Thanks in advance

Re: Mk1 or Mk2 Turbo

I didn't post on here to try and upset or wind anyone up, and I apologise if I have, the reason I posted on here was to find out if the engine is a Mk1 or a Mk2 and thanks to some knowlegable Fiat enthusiasts I now know, and I am very appreciative for the information.
I am not going to scam anyone, I have used ebay for a few years buying and selling and I have never scammed anyone or been scammed myself, I realise that there is a few dodgy people on ebay and anything that seems too good to be true usually is, for example £6k cars on a buy it now for £3k, and resistor chips that claim to give you x more bhp. However I am selling some Fiat bits for a good friend who wants to clear his shed, I want him to get a fair price for his bits and by selling them on ebay it is my experience that things generally sell for what they are worth, if I put the engine in the classifieds what price do I put on it? I don't know if the engine is worth £100 or £1000.
Oldskool, I realise that it is a long way to travel twice, but when I list anything on ebay I make sure that the description is totally honest and correct, if I make anything out to be better than it really is I would expect the buyer to reject the item, I know I would if I won an item that was not as described, and that would be a waste of everyones time, effort, and money.

Re: Mk1 or Mk2 Turbo

I hear what you are saying Neil, but you may have inadvertantly wound a few people up mentioning you have this engine for sale, that's all(due to it being a new one especially), due to you not being prepared to sell it here! I realise that there was no intention to do so, and that you were asking for some guidance. I for one have already offered to buy it, as I desperately need it for my mk1 uno. We are true enthusiasts on here, and would hate to see some boy racer buy it, just to then abuse it to death, as many uno turbos seem to suffer at the hands of boy racers! I will keep my eye on it if/when it appears on ebay though!

Re: Mk1 or Mk2 Turbo

Please accept my apologies, I am genuinely sorry if I have wound anyone up, it was not my intention to do so.
I will be listing the engine tonight and I sincerely hope that it does sell to a genuine enthusiast.

Neil
