| Tempremental Git Have a 1.0 litre ie Hobby which runs OK but not great, but always stalls on idle and is difficult to start half the time. It's had a reconditioned engine control unit and new distributor pickup. I've narrowed the problem down to either the transisitor pack on the distributor, or the coil, which has a lower dc resistance than that quoted in the Haynes manual. Anyone got any comments/suggestions?

| :) | I believe i solved my problem (which seems very similar, rough running then stalling at idle - although mine had no problem starting i don't think) by replacing the vacuum advance unit. Maybe it will help. Otherwise: Was told before my problem could be lambda Dirty throttle body Dodgy plugs Dodgy fuel filter Regards Paul

| You could always adjust the idle throttle to make it run slightly smoother when not pressing at all on the pedal. Yours, Andy Bellenie

| NobodyBlamesTheHappyGuy:D | If it's an MkII with injection you don't have an idle speed adjuster. Make sure you don't adjust (tighten) the throttle cable so it doesn't strike the idling sensor. Makes the engine get too much fuel during idling and hence, stalls. A good clean of the injection unit might help. | Principality Retained :) | Without attempting to Hijack- My 899 Cinq did the same, it was due to petrol fouling the MAP Sensor line... You'd need to get an adaption kit (part from a FIRE Engine) to solve it... Tom (AofB) Pedal to the metal? ....My Gearbox is on the floor!!!
