Hi Chaps,

Does anyone know what's involved in converting the brakes on a standard Uno to those of a turbo. Do the calipers just bolt straight on or do they require special adapters like Duncs Brembos. Obviously need discs and pads. Are the brakelines the same?

nah should be a straight bolt on .most fiat brakes are interchangable re: the bolt holes.
eg cinqs can fit marea,punto gt,barchetta brakes as long as the wheels are large enough

straight fit for everything. put the ut front brakes on mine. it's only the rear one's that rewquire a 4mm spacer between the disc and the hub.

I've often wondered that. I would have thought that FIAT fitted the same calipers to larger models in the range rather than having them unique to the turbo. Maybe the Regatta? Strada? Tipo/ Tempra, Delta?

Rather than paying a fortune for some shagged out turbo calipers (just because they came from a turbo) the same calipers might be available on more average larger models for low prices?

What increase in braking effeciency has anyone who has upgraded got? is there a marked increase?
I must admit compared to my girlies micra my brakes are crap.
Has anyone upgraded to larger/double discs?

No problem hijacking the thread. I was trying to do a check here http://www.ebcbrakesdirect.com/ it looks unlikely.

if you have 14" wheels or above you can go for the punto gt,marea 1.8/2.0 upgrade
though oyu would need to check 100% as uno brakes on a cinq require a 3mm spacer under the disc

UT brakes will fit under 13s. personally, theyre a good upgrade for lower spec unos and will fir on no probs, but u may need ot upgrade ot a UT brake master cylinder as i think the lower spec ones arent as powerful. not 100% tho!

I used my standart master cylinder, and it works 100% and the braking is improved over 200%.
