Ignition Barrel

I have a friend whose looking at buying a 1 litre Uno for the princely sum of £150. Only problem is it needs a new ignition barrel and I wasn't sure if Uno's have coded keys like my Cinq. So could he just put any Uno ignition barrel on or not? Obviously he'll have separate keys to the doors though.

Re: Ignition Barrel

Yup, Custard is right. No hi tech stuff like coded keys on an old skool Uno!

Not sure how easy it is to change the lock barrel. If it's awkward, you can swap the whole steering column over with one with a good barrel already attached.

By the way, is it the barrel that is the problem or the switch itself? If it's the switch then that is dead easy to change and your mate could still use the original barrel and key

Re: Ignition Barrel

Also, sometimes it is just the key that wears and jams. You may find that a new cut key will work OK in the original lock. That happened with my Mum's Uno.

Re: Ignition Barrel

I haven't looked yet, but apparently he has bought it. It doesn't start due to the key not turning in the ignition so who knows, like I said, haven't looked myself yet. But this lad is worse off financially than me, so trying loads of things just isn't economical.
