are you replacing the belt or just adjusting it? if its adjust its an easy loosen the bolt of and adjust, although you may need a lever to get proper tension.if its a belt change then if its like the cinq you need to get underneath and maybe take the wheel of for access, but its not a hard job

Hei.

It may be worn out. If tightening doesn't help, or it is impossible to tighten it more, you should get a new one. A new one is anyway a good idea to keep in the spare wheel arch in the trunk. The reason it whines when cold is because the alternator charges more during startup to boost the battery. When it whines it doesn't charge properly, and you'll soon have problems starting. Well, maybe not soon, but in a while. So if it snaps, the battery won't be charged at all, just delivering power, and it won't take much time before the headlights drains it all.

Morten.
