Re: Uno Scrapyard queory

The punto 55 uses the same 1108cc engine as the uno 60 not sure about the other engines I am sure the guys here will confirm.
As for parts from a scrappy you will find most have been stripped of decent parts and put on e bay these days.
New Fiat uno parts are still available to purchase at reasonable prices if you are stuck 4 second hand.
What are you after anyways put a wanted ad in the classified or have look on e bay best bet.
Pete

Re: Uno Scrapyard queory

what part of the country you in blues? for me i have access to several scrappies in nw london (hendon, alperton), and a very big one in watford, generally can get whats needed out of them. xchange and mart also has a few places listed (always seem to be south and east london!)

of course theres always the "buy a scrapper on ebay" route, as long as its cheap and you dont mind some spanner wielding.

don't forget a lot of mk1 bits (body, trim) can be used on your car, a few of the guys here a very adept at mix and match, one has even used the bumper from a micra!

Re: Uno Scrapyard queory

Thanks guys , I'm up north in Billingham , to be honest i hit four or five decent sized Scrappies expecting to see at least 2 or 3 , and i was very surprised to find nothing . I have yet to hit Middlesborough where i think i will definitely uncover some goodies . What I'm after is cosmetic , all seats , glove box door , rear washer arm , the bit of plastic that fits under the rear wash motor , things like that . nothing major . anyway thanks for replying

Re: Uno Scrapyard queory

Well i trucked down to Middlesborough and checked out a further 4 scrapyards , 3 had nothing ,i then asked how come , one said well there all been and gone now , we now never get them in , maybe there still on the road ? , somehow i don't think so , the other just kinda laughed , anyway the fourth had one in , a mint 94 Start plus ? , same as mine only it had little extras , a lever for the hatch down on the drivers floor . I couldn't believe the condition , it was better than mine ! and it had 54.000 on the clock There was a bit of surface rust , very very minor , anyway i got my wiper arm £3.00, and negotiated for the all the seats £30 . This guy wouldn't agree lower terms , he just wouldn't budge , so be it . Anyway i will hit it again tomorrow and do a proper reconnaissance on it , i may glean something else .like the bonnet , dam im getting hooked on this

Re: Uno Scrapyard queory

Old cars like Unos just tend to get crushed quickly and sent of to China for recycling. Because there are relatively few of them on the road there is less demand for parts so most scrappies will want shot of them quickly. That is my take on it anyway.

Re: Uno Scrapyard queory

£30 For a good set of seats from a scrappie is a good price that is the kind of price people sell them on e bay so do not feel hard done by.
