Smile My current project

Hi Guys
Got me a 93 1.0ie 3 door Mambo which I am stripping to fix up my 92 1108cc 60s 5 door.
The Mambo engine had its headgasket blow and the lady owner drove it until it would no more so lots of lovely gunk all over the engine bay.
The interior is in v good condition green and pink v nice.

I am swapping the windscreen glass as mine is cracked and the tailgate glass as my demist is broken.

All the rest of the glass in the mambo including the sunroof is perfect.
I am swapping the windscreen glass as mine is cracked and the tailgate glass as my demist is broken.

Swapping over the bumper and 2 front wings. Had ago today and got stuck as most of the screw/bolt/nuts are rusted and not budging so sprayed some wd40.

The mambo had a decent set of grundig and pioneer speakers and head unit which I am also transfering.

My next job is to take off the front brake calipers and clean them up and swap too as my hose line is cracked.

Headlamp unit is next as mine is cracked.

Can anyone tell me if I can swap the front seats from a 3 door to a 5?

If any of you guys care to come around and scavenge the mambo once I am finished your more than welcome.
I live in Greenwich borough just off shooters hill SE London.

Pete

Yes, they're interchangeable. Next step when you do this is seal the back doors so passengers can have access to the rear seat only from the front doors

Re: My current project

Remember to use silicone spray and the rope technique for installing the windscreen... with an assistant pressing gently and evenly on the outside of the glass.

It helps if the dashboard is moved slightly (IMHO) but only if the two dashboard hooks (below the corners of the windscreen) pop out easily. Don't forget the single screw in the centre dashboard demister vent. Chas did a nice tutorial on removing the dashboard. Here it is: http://www.fiatforum.com/showthread....hboard+removal
Note: you only need to shift the dashboard a few millimetres, just to make it easier to get the rubber windscreen seal in... so don't bother removing all the other items that Chas did... he had too much time on his hands

The tailgate glass is similar, though obviously there is nothing in the way. Hope you don't find any rust... but if you do, a quick clean-up and paint with anti-rust paint will be a sensible move and shouldn't take long.

Unhappy Re: My current project

Well I have transplanted most of the parts however whilst gingerly removing the windsreen rubber cracked the glass.
Think I might just pay an installer the £90 to fit a new one, real shame as I prefer to recycle and of course keep the beer tokens too.
Our hose pipe ban comes into force tommorrow even though it has been bucketing down all week!
So was out in force this morning washing all 3 cars in the household.

Re: My current project

Oh NO!
I feel the pain. I forgot to talk about removing the windscreen - only the installation...

I have to admit that James and I have a BAD record for windscreens... for six removals, I think we cracked three? Actually, one cracked suddenly weeks after being removed. I've been told since that windscreens should always be stood up vertically for storage (on the same edge as when installed in car).
