Re: 560 Ut beats lamborgini Diablo ???

well norris designs did take a 4 cyl, 2l, stock mitsi evo engine and create a 700hp+ monster from it:
http://web.norrisdesigns.com/Feature...at=&id=8&cid=0

however thats a much newer design, and wound up to the max, can't see this being anything other than balls on bull

and having seen a tub max the speedo i wouldn't want to be anywhere near it if it could go faster, a washing machine box strapped to a jet engine would be safer

Re: 560 Ut beats lamborgini Diablo ???

Theoretically it is possible. But such an engine would cost an amount of money that is well beyond what someone could afford and it wouldn't last.

Additionally it would be undriveable through the front wheels. I would have to be a 4x4 with an Integrale setup. But then it wouldn't be an Uno Turbo anymore. Even then I doubt that he can afford it.

To outperform a 200mph car with an Uno would require to rework the whole chassis from the aerodynamics as well as a lot of strengthening of the chassis.

Difficult to believe what he is claiming. Even if he offers to challenge him. But who would really be interested to it?

On a 1.4 block anymore than 200bhp you looking at reliablity and driveabilty issues...

Maybe I should ring him invite him to a race

Re: 560 Ut beats lamborgini Diablo ???

Remember, the 1.5 Block was used for the Grp. B rally car 037, this was the one which was super and turbo charged, this used a standard 1.3 block from the Uno turbo. Obviously this was a works build and works money behind it, with special cranks, pistons etc..... This produced over 600bhp, althoug rumours of use of NOx piped through roll cage tubes, and stored in fire extinguishers which were changed at every service.

Also BMW in the 80's used the standard used 1.5 blocks for their 1500bhp F1 engines, again a special works build, but using standard blocks. It can be done, you just need to throw enough money at it.

As for whether this guys one is telling the truth, we will never know unless we were at the rolling road sessions.

Also how can adding more power to a FWD car make it oversteer, surely theu meant understeer.

Yeah, BMW used 4 cylinder road car blocks that were well used apparently. Renault's V6 1.5 litre put put more than 1400bhp at the end of turbo era........how much more would have been a mystery I would have thought, since Renault's dynos only went up to 1400bhp (or so I have read )

Re: 560 Ut beats lamborgini Diablo ???

one of the tuners here by us has a 2l mazda motor running on turbo and nos, producing 1100nm torque and 850 kw power. you can download a video here if you are interested or to surf through his site.

The Lancia 037 did not use a 1.5L engine, it had a 1995cc engine in the EVO1 producing around 255-280bhp and 2111cc in EVO2 producing 310-330bhp and was turbo charged, this was the last 2WD car to win the WRC and in so doing beating the Audi 4WD cars which many forget thinking the AUDIs where all conquering, they were not, they were heavy and unreliable.

You are also getting mixed up with a Lancia Delta S4 rally car which had a unique square 1.8L engine that was supercharged and turbo charged to produce over 600bhp, this car had absolutely nothing to do with an UNO engine, in fact the head was so revolutionary its copywrited.

All engines in the turbo era of F1 were 1.5L and Renault being the most successful at it, they produced the first 1000bhp one and released the Series one R5GTT to commemorate this feat. All manufacturers ran about 1300bhp in the qualifying engines, and yes BMW was rumoured to have used one that made 1500bhp, this engine was used for a maximum of 12 laps before being rebuilt.

If anyone knows anything about aerodynamics and how they work they will know it would take a huge amount of power to make an UNO get anywhere near 200mph.

there was a great article where Gordon Murray described how the Maclaren F1 needed only 400bhp of its 627 to reach 200mph as it was aerodynamically efficient but above 200mph its take an extra 12bhp to go 1mph faster, but he used a Cinquecento as an example and running the same software he used on developing the F1 he concluded that in theory it would take the Cinq 950bhp to reach 200 due to the aerodynamic inefficacies. All hatch backs are terrible in aerodynamic terms and would never really get any above 150 as air resistance is far to great for there shape to pass through easily.

Aaron.

I think he means torque-steer due to the massive power going through front wheels..
