Hi all.

HAving a slight problem. my drivers door won't open. have taken it to a garage and told me that the lock was buggered. I went to the scrappy and brought a new lock and attempted to open me door again to no avail!
N e ideas on how i can open the door or would it be easier to take it to a garage and get him to do it??
Also picked up front and back wheel arches but there are only three as the car i ripped them off was burnt out so had obviously melted off??
Also got a new set of 15" TSW 4 spoke alloys but i am a little worried as wen i get the car up to 40mph it begins to shake i know that my drivers side track rod is bent as the person i brought the car off managed to wrap it round a pole on the drivers side so have a feeling that the track rod is bent would that cause this shaking or is it balance and tracking?? N e help on this and n e one wiv a pair of clear front indicators spare give us a shout please?
Cheers guys

I'd worry that the drivers door doesn't open because the body shell is bent because

I suppose it's always possible the operating rods have come adrift from the lock mechanism inside the door - it's got to be worth a look, as you'll have to get the side panel off to change the lock anyway.
If you get good at taking it apart, you could open up the passenger side to see how it all works - and compare sides...

If it is "broken", I'd imagine the only way to open the door is have the catch held in the open position while applying whatever BF & I is needed to move it:
If I had to try I'd probably be inside pushing out on the door, with the soles of both feet[:0] while some mug/willing helper was pressing the button on the door:D

I'm not sure now what extra access to the front door mechanism you get if you open the back door... but I suppose you have a three door UNO:(

Best of luck.

this car shaking could be a lot of things wheel bearings, balancing, worn engine mounts, bent chassy, worn out shocks, or simple thing uneven tyre presure.
some cars have to have longer wheel bolts when you fit alloys! don't know weather uno does but if they are two short they may have come loose!

If you open the inside panel...

Be careful not to break the plastic that covers the opening handle. Do not pull it off - I did and it was never to fit again. You have to slide it either backward or forward, then open the lever and push it further until it comes off. It has 4 "attachers". Also be pay attention to the window handle. Press a small screwdriver or something in between the door's panel to release the spring clip there. Then unscrew everything on the panel, pull off very gently not damaging the inside clips. Now you will have full access to the inside of the door. Good idea to check for corrotion and spray the inside of the door with some anti-rust (or some oily thing that you can buy for this purpose) to let water that is inside the door flow freely out the small holes in it.

After
[xx(] a break-in
[xx(] several "ice-shut" doors
[8D] refurnishing
[xx(] a crashed door
I concider me as an Uno specialist in removing and attaching door panels. Hehe. At least on the 5 door model.
