Fiat Uno Fire running rough

Hi - i have an '89 Fire which is starting to run rough. It has a manual choke, which I always need to use when starting. In the past my fire has run fine once the engine heated up. Increasingly though it cuts out when idling, and is jerky when driving under 60kph. It's booked in for a garage visit, but I wanted to check with other Fiat owners first, cos i'm sure someone else has had this problem and fixed it. I'm assuming my fire just needs a good tune - look forward to advice etc!

I'd try first of all with a complete carburettor cleaning...especially if it's never been done;)!Then check you distributor inside, if it has points check their gap, it should be between those limits 0.38-0.47mm...if it's a breakerless one it should cut out when hot at any speed[xx(]...the parts probably to replace are the Hall sensor &/or the module bolted on the outer of the distibutor!Let's know how do you proceed:)!

Kiaora Kiwi

As Enzo says, a can of carb cleaner down the intake (with the air filter off) did wonders to my Fire....don't forget to soak up the excess and careful not to drop anything down there...:D
