Hi all,
Following an MOT, my 1993 Fiat Uno has failed due to a flexi hose which is leaking fuel near to where it is attached to the metal tank. This hose runs from the petrol filler cap (or nearby) to the tank and looking back at an earlier thread, I thought it might be a vent/breather hose but it seems not to be the case, as Morty Mort said:
"The tank has one large fuel hose. Beside this hose there is a smaller one, maybe 1" thick. It goes up to the petrol cap area. The petrol cap should make a suction noise when opening. Two hoses are attached to the pump. So - actually there are no breather hose. I did some studying when I changed it myself, because I couldn't find the vent hose. The ventilation is contained within the system. Vapour is driven through a carbon filter and returned to the engine intake".
I have attached a diagram of the fuel system which I got from my local Fiat dealer and a simpler layout in the relevant part of the Haynes manual (acknowledged). The smaller concertina hose I need is shown as number 25 (part number: 7749842) rather than no 16 on the dealer printout but am a bit confused as there only seems to be one fixing point on the tank for two different hoses. Also, does anyone know the function of this smaller hose rather than the main larger one, perhaps an overflow hose? Clicking on the attachments will increase them to a more user friendly size!
Any advice or help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Andy
