Hey everyone, first off I'd like to say thanks. This forum and a Haynes manual has helped me so so much. Thanks for all the threads.

I have an Uno Mia 1100 (1998 model - South Africa).

I temporarily fixed my starter yesterday afternoon. My brushes still have enough life in them so I just sanded my commutator with waterpaper #800 , reassembled and I was ready.

While I was reconnecting the battery I shorted the Positve against the body of the car or the ignition coil, not too sure which it was:eek: (By the right upper strut mount).

When I started the engine the starter worked like it should, thankfully, but I noticed my temp gauge and petrol gauge weren't working. Changed the Services fuse and it was back up.

With regards to the idling I can start and rev the car fine, with the choke out it idles fine but as soon as it drops below 2000rpm it cuts out. I searched the forums a bit and came across a similar thread. The thread mentioned the fuel cutoff solenoid. I put the ignition on and disconnected the electric plug(spade plug) to the solenoid by the carb. With the ignition on, if I reattach the plug to the solenoid I can hear the soenoid move and therefore it has current running to it.

Prior to this problem there was nothing wrong with the Uno other than the Starter.

Is the solenoid faulty even though it still moves? Or could this be something else. It must be something electrical as I did not touch the carb or any other parts other than the Starter.

Thanks

Thats a bit odd, maybe the carb was disturbed when you worked on the starter?

Check all the connections, especially the earths... Maybe check the fuel lines too.

Found the problem! one of the hoses on the carb was leaking. The hose that goes to the brake servo
