Hi, I'm new to the forum and was hoping someone could assist me.

I have replaced my cam belt on my 1100 mia and am trying to set the distributor timing with a timing light(strobe?).
No matter which way I turn the distributor, the markings on the flywheel or the alternator pulley do not come into view. I have checked the cam timing and I think the marks are in the right places.(+_ 15 minutes to the hour on the cam and TDC on the flywheel)
I also connected the strobe light to the spark plug on the cam side as well as the spark plug on the distributor side as I was not sure which was no 1.

Any help would be appreciated.
Regards, Bruce

Many thanks for the reply.
No, I did not. I had a friend come over to look ( he is a mechanic)

First thing he did was pull off the tube of the vacuum advance and the idling dropped and the mark was there immediately. He adjusted the timing and then set my idling. I'm trying to learn to do the basics on my car so that I can be more self reliant. I'll know for next time.

Thanks again for your help.
Kind regards
Bruce
