hi all
i have a uno 1.1 (2000)
the thing i have had oil leak so the warning light came on , so i topped up the oil. i found the leak in between the engine and gearbox. so i assumed it was the rear main seal. so i dropped the gear box and changed the seal. then put everything back .started the car and it would not go forward only reverse. so a friend said it was the pressure plate. so dropped the box and changed the clutch and pressure plate. but now im having same problem:bang:. only goes in reverse. it struggles to even go a meter forward. please help.so could it be oil pump ???? or what

If reverse engages ok & it drives fine in reverse, and it was going forward ok before you took out the gearbox, my guess would be there is a linkage not connected back up properly.

Check you connected the gear selection linkages correctly. It's unlikely to be the clutch because the reverse works, so the clutch is obviously able to let you engage reverse gear, which means it should also enable you to engage any forward gears too.

When the car isn't running, can you select the forward gears - does it sound and feel like they are going into gear?

Can you get it to move forward in a higher gear (rev it up high & start from 2nd, 3rd or 4th, just to see if it'll go forward any)?

- is it still leaking oil? It might have a safety cut-out feature that stops it being driven (kind of like limp-home-mode, when the MIL warning light comes on) so that you don't wreck the engine.

Gearbox or engine oil (sounds like from engine)?
