Turbo radiator and gear box

Hi, Is the radiator on the mk2 Turbo the same as any other model uno? i need a new rad and the one's available in the local brakers arnt turbo's?

is the gear box on a turbo the same as any other model of uno? the synchro on 3rd gear is a bit iffy on mine and i think it would be easyer to change the whole box rather than try to repair mine!

any help much appreacated

Thanks
Dan

Replacing synchros is fairly easy, just treat it like a jigsaw in reverse and have a good space to lay all this bits out.

Re: Turbo radiator and gear box

Hi frosty, the box is a bit to far for me to collect and they arnt offering postage! as for the Rad, are you talking about the new one? as they want £75 for it. a re-con from sercs is only £50 with 6 month guarantee! That said, a good second hand one from the local scrap yard would only be £10.

My main problem is i dont want to throw too much money at the car just yet! The more i find wrong with it the more i think i might try to find a better one and use this one for spairs, which would be shame as this one looks quite strate and runs well there's just loads of little bits that want doing and i can see them all adding up to a lot of money!

Fast Finger, i dont realy have the time to get into re-doing the box, but I dont mind droping one and replaceing it with another!

Re: Turbo radiator and gear box

Hi Dan,

The Uno N/A radiator is different to the turbo radiator. The N/A radiator has a reservoir on the side – see attached.

The turbo Radiator's part number listed on my CD ROM is 7691274 – also listed for the Fiorino Diesel 1697CC – which is a match. This van may also be fitted with part number 7586746 – which is not a match for the Uno Turbo.

Good Luck

Re: Turbo radiator and gear box

Hi Dan,

I’ve just spotted an e-bay seller based in Manchester who appears to be breaking a MK2 Uno turbo http://search.ebay.co.uk/_W0QQsassZredeyeviper

It might be worth asking him if he still has the parts your after

Regards,

Re: Turbo radiator and gear box

I know that bloke! the bits listed are the only bits available, apart from a drivers seat that is well worn out!

Looking at the pictures posted, allthough the rads are diffrent i think it would fit, and provideing the cap on it didnt leak should be a quick fix.

If i can keep the car running and get it through the MOT i would then replace it with a new one. but what i dont want to do is spend loads of money on bits that it wont fail the mot on then if it dose fail the MOT and the repairs are going to cost more than i want to spend i can scrap the car without feeling i have wasted so much money!

So my next question is.... Has anyone in the manchester area got a raidator they want to sell?

Thanks for the help Louie Bee
