Hi, just wondering if anyone can help me with locating the earth points on my mk1 uno turbo. Have got a few needles on the dash going a bit crazy, the oil temp & pressure & the temp gauge, have been told it is a bad earth but not sure where to look.

Don't know where they all are, a Haynes manual may help there.

A few years ago, a friend had an Uno with a similar problem. His earth strap from battery to gearbox, then to body had a break in it, but he also found that he needed to clean the multi-earth points, on the inner right wing, and behind the left headlamp. There could be others.

Earth points on a mk1 UT are:

1. N/S rear boot area, bolted to the inside of the rear panel
2. Under the dash top right of the fuse box, bolted to the cross brace that runs across the car
3. Behind the O/S headlight, bolted to the inner wing
4. Behind the N/S headlight, bolted on the inner wing forwards of the battery tray - this one is part of the link between the battery gnd and the gearbox gnd
5. The engine is earthed on the top of the rocker cover, cam pulley end

For an issue with the gauges on the dash I'd start with number 2

I had this with a Mk2 SX. It was the earth between the battery and gearbox as mentioned above. It took me a while to find it because its disguised as just a cable mount with a little 'tang' of metal pushed through the cable insulation to act as the earth contact.

Uno mk2 1,1ies 10/1993 (1108cc bosch spi) after cleaning the earth grounds(negative cable to gearbox - under baterry tray - right inner wing - rear boot inside panel - positive cable to starter motor & engine block and dynamo to engine block ) using carb cleaner and metal brush and at the end spraying with electric contact cleaner, now i am facing a major problem!
The car is dead!
When i attouch the negative cable to the battery:,only hazzard lights - interior roof light and radio are working nothing else.
The fuel injector is spraying by itself at full throttle(at least its clean) i remove air filter box clean witf carb cleaner the carburetor and also open the pressure regulator(small round rubber seal covered by a tringle metal to check for cracks) also i can hear a constant noise from the fuel pump, the only way to stop is if i unplugg the electric connector from carburetor(only fuel injector stops) or unplugg the feul pump relay or remove the negative cable from baterry.
My only thought is that electric connector cleaner spray hasn't dry yet so i will check it again tomorrow morning.
