Hi I have a 2002 Uno Mia 1100 and today for the second time it just cut out and everything is DEAD can't start it do nothing, except the handbrake light on dash stay on. First time I called my dad tested the battery fine, checked earth fine when he pulled on the reverse lights cable the handbrake light went off and it started again.

Drive for 3 days NO problem today I came back from a 120km trip 3 blocks from home stopped at stop sign dead again, with the handbrake light on. Walked home as the engine was to warm to wiggle the cable I did attempt to try but almost burn myself.

My dad unplugged the reverse lights again started and drive home, he can't see that there is anything wrong stripped worn wires it still looks good.

Any advice where to start looking?

Definitely start by replacing the ignition module on the side of the distributor. My Mia has done the same thing twice in the years that I have owned her. Each time it was the ignition module. Midas sells them for around R250. Genuine Fiat ones are more reliable but cost around R800.

Hi there UnoMia

How does one replace the ignition module by itself. When I tried, I noticed that two wires went into the distributor, and since then I didn't bother to scratch any further for fear of damaging the dizzy.
