Unhappy Oh Ar$e

Yes it was almost a dead cert that after starting building a rally car in November 2001 and only finishing it on Friday night that on its first event i would bin it.

The day route set of test/stages were really good fun, including us just getting into the top 11 times overall (with only a 45bhp car - against cars with ~130bhp) it was all going really well. At the end of the day route we were 22nd overall and 2nd in class and i was feeling really good.

We started the night route and the first selectif/stage we cleaned and made up a whole minute on the car in front of us. So we felt as if things were going really well still.
But on the sixth section we got stuck behind a member of the public for a couple of miles and we lost a shed load of time, and we had a couple of miles of thisa section to do, and Tom (my nav) said to go for it (please note i'm not blaming Tom for what happened - it was my own fault) and i did this. There was a long straight bit of road (~1 mile) and i was flat in thrid doing ~65-70 mph when we hit a section of bumps and then a small hump back bridge, which made the back of the car jump up. This caused the car to slide to the right, then ensued about 3-4 attempts to catch the slides on opposite sides of the road, when the front of the car went straight into a hedge. All the time i had my foot on the throttle to try and ctach the slide. We hit the hedge which then spun us round 180 degrees and we landed back facing the wrong way, luckly not blocking the road, but just beside it.

We then had to explain to the RAC where we were, although the bloke us got us was very good and took us home without asking too many questions about what we had been doing. Luckly he likes rallying, and had been marhsalling at a recent WRC round !

The shell is a write off, as well as all the safety gear, luckly we were not hurt, although both of us are a bit stiff this morning.

I will post some pics when i get them - all rather deflated at the moment. Never building a car from scratch again !

Cheers

I don’t care if it’s a porn shoot in which he is being gang raped by a gaggle of silverback apes, if there are cameras rolling, everybody wins. 10 grand for anyone that can deliver this to me, today.

Re: Oh Ar$e

Hey, very well done for the things you did achieve.

I think rallying is just like that, huh? And as with all motorsport, the more money you (or the team) can throw at it, either out of pocket or through sponsors, the more chance of recovering from setbacks.

Hey, when I become rich can I sponsor your team?

Re: Oh Ar$e

Sorry to here about that Super Uno!!!

If you’d have asked before last Tuesday, I could have sold you the white 3 door 45S ( as in my sig really cheep). Now she has an MOT and I return from London – seems everyone is after (ah Dunc) I guess it’s all about timing.

Now I do have a red MK2 1993 3 door 1.0 IE for sale soon. I have given Luke first dibs on it, but I think I’m too pricey I've been waiting for him to be on MSN to re discuss the price / issues before I list her. See here for the considerations http://www.fiatforum.com/showthread....672#post390672

Regards,
Louie.

Re: Oh Ar$e

Have started to throw more money at it, now the proud owner of an L-reg Uno 1.0ie Start in white 3-door.

Ordered the new FIA spec seats, and harnesses and the roll-cgae is being built by OMP as i type.

I will update when things have progressed further.

Cheers

Matt
