Right then if you were to recondition the standard turbo it would cost you around £300ish. Or replace the turbo with a brand new unit from fiat and they will charge you £700!!! On the other hand replace it with a hybrid stage one turbo (150 bhp+) from turbo technics and you are looking at around £450 (not fitted). On the other hand if you hunt around i'm sure you can find a turbo privately for a lot less. Fitting the turbo is a right pain in the ass on uno turbos due to its location so unless you know someone whos done it before i would advise you to get it done professionally. On the subject of insurance you will find that most companies will NOT insure you for an uno turbo at your age as it is quite simply too much of a high risk to them. Otherwise i think your looking at about £2500 annually at least for your age depending of course on your individual circumstances, i.e area you live in, where the car is parked etc But you never know you might be in luck if you search high and low for quotes so its worth phoning around
Hope that helps

Unoman that is a very good quote for you and your age especially on an uno turbo.
Charlieboy i would suggest you get a quote from CIS and see what they say if you try and get it insured under your mums name. That is the best way around it to have an uno turbo at your age, otherwise its pretty damn hard to get it done under your own name and wont be cheap. LOL ur mum wants an uno turbo? GO GIRL RACER! HEHE And finally yeh it isnt cheap to replace a turbo, u will find that most people sell their uno turbos when the turbo needs replacing because it costs a lot to sort out, probably even more than the car is worth. People like me and Dunc however see it as an excuse to make our UTs faster lolz I just replaced my turbo with a custom made hybrid T25 and now she flieeeeeeeees!!!!!!! However remember it might not even be the turbo causing the smoke, it could be the valve stem seals or piston rings.

Re: Lovely Uno

charlie, if u get a UT with a smokey turbo im sure i can find you a good turbo to put on it. i got a few mates with some spare and i'll even fit it for you, well show you want to do cos u gotta learn lol

but, as frosty said, its an excuse to whack a bigger turbo on, when something breaks, just uprate it

also, get a quote first with insurance

Dunc
