So where to begin with yet another Uno turbo under my wing, ive had around 12 or so of these italian basket cases both Mk1 & Mk2's which i prefer tbh.
I should really know better with these cars as they hide and indeed boast so many issues not least the main culprit being rust rust and more rust!

Anyway its too late ive bought this Red Mk2 so on we go, I stumbled apon its existance on this forum where a passing comment was made regarding the storage of it in a garage for 10 years infact not been taxed since 2001.

The good bits and there are many beleive it or not are as follows.

Its very much un-molested which means no bleed valves and no open cone filters in the engine bay,OEM exhaust too, it is as was intended by Fiat.

It does however benefit from having new Koni Shocks and springs fitted to lower the hideous standard ride height but for me still sits a little too high so i will be changing the springs at some point.

Also it has new calipers, discs and pads fitted all round again so a nice money saver for me as i will surely need all the extra pennies i can get

The car hasnt been in the hands of some chav like most have been these days so to bring her back to its former glory will be enjoyable.

All the interior is present except the two rear door cards however i hope to have sourced some at the weekend plus a new drivers door as this one is soooooo rotten its about to turn into dust!

Right plans are as follows ive already done a full service on it including, plugs, leads, rotor arm, fuel filter, oil filter & oil, new fuel pump as the other was duff, air filter, dizzy cap just waiting on pre pump filter to arrive from Italy.

Next up is to fit the new handbrake cables and get that working, brakes have been bled and now its onto the clutch being hydrolic the slave cylinder has given up the ghost so a new one is on order.

Now on inspection ie jacked up and having a poke about its going to need both sides welding plus the rear arches welded aswell then the floor rubbed down and fully treated with a ton of wax oil.

Once the welding has been recitified then i will seek a full re-paint and then hopefully it will be some where near to how i want it

This is how she was, storred up in a garage ooop north.

A sneeky peek of the new suspension, discs, pads and calipers although for some reason have been painted by Stevie Wonder they are horrid so will be rubbing down and painting black or silver

Great work so far! (y)
The garage storage seems strangely familiar... As though I've actually seen it there. Unless it was at Louie Bee's place, I won't have.

Not a bad example at all... I'll look forward to seeing what you make out of it :)

The white stuff on the ground made me laugh. Must be horrible working in those conditions!

looks like a nice uno turbo you have there. I had a Black mk2 uno turbo with Koni's in the late 90's and it handled like it was on rails without being hard over the bumpy bits.
Non-sunroof too:cool:

Little update on the old rot box. picked up a replacement drivers door at the weekend as lets just say mine has seen better days!

old one lol

Also while the gear box is out to sort clutch out i started to de-grease it and ready it for painting

alot better but want to do another coating of Gunk.

Nice one (y)

Looks like the previous door, while already rusty, also suffered a recent, umm, inflection? ;)

How are those rear turrets going...

-Alex

Haha yeah dozey girl friend drove in that door just her luck it was the one that was to binned although still wasnt best pleased!

Yeah rear turrets and rear boot floor are very good tbf, its the the sills that require most of the attention.

Managed abit more on the old girl at the weekend, got the new clutch lined up and fitted then put the gearbox back on bled the system i now have a clutch pedal :)

Also collected some bits and bobs aswell, a replacement headlight, 2 x new wings, front and rear strut braces and full stainless Scorpion exhaust including down pipe complete with hard as nails 4" tail pipe haha

Couldnt really get to the fooking down pipe nuts as the drive shaft is right in way so took the inlet manifold off to make things a little easier and to have a look at the exhaust manifold/turbo while i was at it.

New down pipe and elbow ready to go back on

Noticed this split hose on the inlet mani, anyone know what it does?

While the inlet mani was off i set about tidying the dirty bastard up!

and after a de-grease, jet wash and a polish its on its way to looking repectable, going to paint the fuel rail black and clean the injectors up aswell.

Alright where you based?

Taking these apart is fairly straight forward just the bits up as you go so its easier to re-install them.
Uno alloys pop up frequently so keep your eyes on, eBay or http://fiatunoturboowners.forumotion.co.uk/
Why not do a project thread on here for the pics (y)

So today managed to get the down pipe and full scorpion exhaust bolted up in place.

Inlet manifold back on ect and fired her up after some fresh petrol but it ran very lumpy/missfire so I asume theres crap fuel still in it....

Things to sort which some may have an idea about.

Interior heater fan not working?

Rad Fan not kicking it, temp gets to half way 90degrees and still nothing

Lumpy tick over, had new plugs, rotor arm and dizzy cap, so perhaps leads, bad fuel and I have a fuel filter togo on aswell?

Brake pedal very spongey still, more air in the system perhaps? the split in the brake servo pipe could this have draged air into the system or poss brake master cylinder screwed?

Reverse gear unable to select but can 1st gear ect, linkeage feels very very loose also.

Looks lovely! Love the mk2 Uno! Sell It to me when it's done? ;) what did you use to clean your seats? they come up really well!

Cheers lads, So Picked up a load more parts as i knew a guy breaking his mk2 turbo, shame to see yet another die.

However it means my can live with some fresh parts.

Managed to get

A spare AFM, Brake master cylinder, clutch master cylinder both virtually new, spare instrument cluster, nearly new petrol tank, polly bushed rear beam, braided brake lines x 5, polly bushed lower arms, polly bushed front ARB, 14" Compomotive Mo's with Yoko's, 2 x doors, 2 x door rubbers, spare fuse box and relays, rear door cards, oil cooler, momo gear knob, 2 coil units, boot struts, omp strut brace, ignition switch and the kitchen sink lol

Cant have enough spares with these cars.

So the Comps 6x 14", going to keep the tyres for my Uno rims that im having polished so will be selling the Mo's minus tyres if anyone is interested.

Rear beam, will strip it down and re-paint it before fitting i hope.

and more suspension parts
