check out this link above interesting reading (y)

Very interesting actually. It all makes sense too which is a change.

I need an exhaust manifold though thats for sure! Don't even know where to start.

Maybe a Y10 Turbo exhaust manifold then make an adapter to fit my GT15 turbo?

Sounds a little botched and restrictive to me.

Has anybody found a turbo manifold that fits a 999 FIRE engine other than one from a Y10 turbo?

I'm pretty sure I saw someone mention something about a vauxhall manifold on here at one time but that might have my mis-interpretation.

The Y10 Turbo uses a totally different engine (the Brazil engine) to the FIREs fitted to your Panda. I can almost guarantee the exhaust manifold from a Y10 turbo will not fit without serious bodging.

Your best bet is to pop over to the Cinq section and look at the FAQ regarding turbo charging a Cinq Sporting. They also use the FIRE engine so most of the info you're seeking can be found there.

ahhh of course I was thinking a Y10 turbo had the 999cc fire.

Will check cinq as suggested - thanks :)

Custom manifold is only option really. arc had one for sale a while back, that he had custom made for the FIRE engines and i think the flange was for a gt15. PM him, might still have it.

Takes alot more than manifolds for turbocharging.

Will need a bigger carb, bigger cams would be better too i think. oilcooler and intercooler + pipework. Decom plate and maybe custom/upgraded internals

May be the same turbo from the astra 1.7TD engines. they a garret and recomended for conversions. Weren't Vauxhall at one point making cars using the Fiat engines?

VERY serious bodging  The brazil motors ports are siamesed like an old BL A-series

Well my intention is only to run a low boost setup and gain somewhere in the reigon of 50-60 bhp. I bought a GT15 turbocharger for the fair sum of £20 from a breakers. It may well need a rebuild - but kits are available for £50 so I think I've done quite well :)

With a low boost setup I will be able to keep all internals stock.

My only major internal changes are that I would like to fit a Panda 4x4 cam and an uprated head gasket although I'm not sure of the availability of such a product so I may just replace with a new one.

I will also mildly port the intake manifold and polish the exhaust valves in an attempt to improve gas flow throgh the head.

My only major concern on a money level is the exhaust manifold. They cost in the reigon of £250 to have made which in the grand scheme of things is not a huge amount of money - but one i'd rather not have to fork out as it works out at half what my car has cost lol

Other than the 2 or 3 main components, the rest of the parts should be fairly cheap and readily available i.e - samco hoses, clips, guages, stainless pipe work and braided hoses.

-edit-

I'll be using the intercooler from a toyota supra

I've sent a PM to arc. Lets hope he's still got it :)

-double edit-

Does anybody have any pictures of a 999 FIRE turbo?

Not a chance if a reliable doubling of HP sorry.

My other half had her seicento done a few years ago by Van Aaken and the 1242 fire went from about 65 to 95 at 0.4bar.

It's a really fun drive, but from 45hp to 105 is way too much if you want to keep reliability. it's a torquey engine and with the T15 the boost is almost always there which is what you really want (y)

doubling the current hp should be possible though. I bet if i were to put my panda on a dyno it'd be hard pushed at 35 hp lol

I know what you mean though. People have a tendency to be unrealistic about the connection between low boost gains and reliability/driveability.

reliability will depend on time, knowledge and money invested..

i still have two of the engines i built but don't have a chassis to use them on yet.. the Panda chassis actually bent by the doors..

i've been busy with another project (Thema s2 turbo) and haven't been around saying much, but i do read once in a while..

4x4 cams are quite hard to get hold of. I can think of one member who might have a spare. Alternatively you can fit the cam from the 1108 engines or perhaps from a 1242. will need to be accompanied by a bigger carb though i expect.

Im waiting on a few replies to emails I sent out but I'm quite confident I've managed to source a Y10 Turbo carb.

I thought a 4x4 cam would be relatively easy to come by actually. Your probably right about the 1108 instead. It would also probably be better suited to the Y10T carb as I'm guessing it has a larger main jet and gubbins than a Panda carb.

4x4 cam is almost the same as the mk1 Punto 60 cam, less lift on the 4x4 but more duration.. the 4x4 cam also has the lobe for the mecanical fuel pump that is NOT available on any of the Punto cams, the lobe can only be found on carb engines..

T15 on a fire?

Doable... been there, done that...very rewarding stuff....very expensive if you do it well....

Coz I just saw the 6 year old post...anyway a conversion is fun...

a tjet is a nice option if:

you can fit a good tranny
and if you can get the engine to run considering it is a drive by wire system with immo in the cluster etc etc....unless you go for a standalone ecu....
