(G) Insurance cost for new 17yr old driver

Cheapest quote so far for 1989 Uno 45s is £1252 TPFT with Elephant. Anyone know if I'll get it any cheaper. By the way this quote is in my name, 48yr old with no ncd and my son as the named driver.

You might as well get it in your son's name (I assume the car's for him?). The price is obviously taken by the youngest driver, so he could build some NCB in the process.

Best bet really is to sit one boring afternoon and phone a million customers, then take the cheapest quote.

That seems an awful lot compared to what I pay on my Mums insurance policy; 19, fully comp on a 2002 Fiat Punto is £450 and was the same when I was 17.

Im even going to be paying £670(ish) on the same policy with a Skoda Fabia vRS, insurance grp 9!

So quote would be about £500 if you had a full 60% discount.

do you have no NCD or have you lost it through accident etc?

Mine is £900- on my dads policy with full NCD and all mods declared. Thats protected no claims aswell, with Tesco insurance. Churchill was a bit more

I just used the online Frizzell quick quote and they do seem cheaper than what I'm currently paying. Need to phone them I think though and find out about cover for driving other vehicles (I have that now - it's a big need for me).

Being one year older makes a whole £200 difference, so looks like this year I might wait a couple of days before renewing (insurance ends day before birthday).

From other peoples' experience, how does the Pass Plus thing make a difference after your first own policy? Can I basically get a letter from my current insurance stating 2 years NCB (1 year + pass plus) ?

try asda insurance i got a quote off them for my uno with no claims bonus and it worked out really cheap for me and the gf

mine was £500 for fist year
renewal is £235 with 1 yr ncb

cis was alot more for me was more than £1300 with mods

but only £235 with asda

No NCD due to driving company cars all my life and our family car is insured in my wifes name as she is the main driver.

Just tried Frizzell quick quote.......£640-£707. Will talk to them in the week to get a firm price. Trying ASDA next, thanks for the help.
