Parts and Production

Hey guys, Does anyone know if they still make new uno parts? And is the car still in production anywhere in the world? Last I heard it was still going in brazil in 2004 but havn't really heard much about it since!

Am desperately after original set of alloys, but phoned up my local fiat garage and they said they were 800 pounds for a set of four original turbo alloys!!!!....Might get myself a new uno for that!

Re: Parts and Production

Hey Chris60S,

Some Fiat parts prices are extortionate. I once asked about how much the roof mounted clock unit was, just the unit itself and not including the housing/ rear view mirror. I was quoted something like GBP 130 and this was back in 1998! Ridiculous price when it probably only cost a couple of pounds to make. I found one in a scrapyard instead.......

As for the wheels, you'd be better off finding a set of Uno Turbo alloys second hand (mk1 styles can be got for about GBP 50) and then pay to have them professionally refurbished. I think some places only charge about 50 pounds per wheel, and the finish will probably be better than original Fiat. You'd end up with pristine wheels for GBP 250, though even that is expensive when you consider that some nearly new modern Fiat alloys can be picked up for less.

No idea if new parts are still being made, I very much doubt it for interior and trim parts, especially mk1's. Though mechanical parts are still being produced by parts manufacturers even if they're not genuine Fiat.

There was a rumour that the Uno is still being made in eastern Europe, but I don't know this for sure. There is an updated version available in south America, which I assume is mechanically pretty similar apart from some styling updates.

Best of luck with the wheels!

Chas
