(G) Instrument cluster :(

My speedo has stopped working!

But the fuel and temperature gauges are still working fine, therefore i dont think the cable is faulty because otherwise they'd have stopped too wouldnt they???

If i need a new cluster then i want one with rev counter too is anyone selling one? Know of anyone selling one???

The speedo cable has its own seperate mechanical wire IIRC. Therefor temp, petrol and all others will still work. Just the speedo wont register, and also teh odometer wont turn

Hello there chris i have the dials with rev counter with only 40.000 miles on the clock it cost me 20 pounds and its yours at the same price and carriage free (i ll send it from work fo free)

Hi Chris,

The speedometer is mechanical, whereas the other gauges are electrical. If there is a mechanical fault with the speedo it will stop working but all the other gauges will be fine.

Before you write the speedo off, have you checked the cable? One way of checking is to remove the instrument cluster, drive the car a very short distance and check to see if the cable is turning. That will isolate whether it is the speedo itself or the cable is at fault.

CM246 looks like he has the instrument cluster you want, otherwise check on Ebay as they turn up on there every now and then. Someone was selling the mk 2 SX type with tacho only a few weeks ago!

hey guys and girls, my speedo stopped too and i sourced the problem!!! the cable which runs the speedo has snapped off the back so i have to buy a new cable.!!!
