Technical New drive shaft boots leaking

1984 Uno 70s (with new clutch!!)

500 km ago I replaced my clutch and Drive shaft boots.

Now the new boots are leaking.:bang:
Maybe I did something wrong putting them on, I don't see how, they are so simple to fit to the D/S, not so easy on the gearbox but it is not the flange at the gearbox that is leaking.

Can some one educate me!

Also my wipers have 2 slow speeds and 1 fast speed, and no self park.
The intermittent function does not work, it is the first slow speed!
Does this mean a new wiper motor or just a clean up of terminals.

The wiper motor needs attention to the self-parking mechanism (rotary switch/wiper), since the wiper is not stopping where it should and therefore, there is no intermittent function either - the two are related. You can probably fix it!

The driveshafts - may have a worn ridge that allows even the new seal to leak. You might see if you can somehow reposition the seal so as to run on a different section of the driveshaft. Otherwise it will need sleeving/machining to repair properly. What about taking the oil seal out of the boot and going to an oil seal supplier - perhaps they can supply one that fits just slightly tighter? Just an idea.

On the wiper I did wonder about pulling it out cleaning contacts, taking out old the old grease and putting in new soft grease.

On driveshafts, that makes sense. For a start I might try using big cable ties to hold the seal a little further in. I have a "spare" boot as only one was real bad, and I bought 2 new ones off Mal so used them anyway. I will take the seal out and give that idea a go as well as the able tie is definately only a temporary fix idea, if ti works.

Found this thread as I am having the same problem with my newly acquired Uno 45 (903cc engine). A bit despondent as having replaced both inner and outer boots which had obvious splits, am getting a slight oil drip from the inner boot joint around the shaft. Also, car is now at home so no longer have access to workshop lift etc. Will try the quick fixes suggested by Alex but wonder if there is anything else I might have missed specific to the older engine and gearbox.
