Re: 1991 uno 70 sx i.e

did you try spacing the rose joints up a little??? I didn't space mine initially when sticking the rods on so i couldnt get 5th or reverse... so i needed to space them from the plates with another nut and then bolt them down to give them the angular movement...

Re: 1991 uno 70 sx i.e

finally managed to take up the slack in the gear linkage, twas a loose connection nearer the gearbox on one of the little pivots... its not 100% tight, theres about 5mm movement side to side when in gear... but thats much better than its previous of 90mm... lol

driving it home from llandegla tonight i have decided i want to stick this on bike carbs if i can so i can try and improve the economy a tad... also it does go well in a straight line well but the handling is horrific... so im going to do something about that... starting with balljoints and ARB bushes, then maybe drop it a tad...

for now tho, i gave it the cb ariel off my mini...

Re: 1991 uno 70 sx i.e

quick plan drawn up for the future...

pull head off as the HG has blown a little (oil into the water system)
replace cam belt and tensioners...
strip head down and get skimmed and clean it up...
gasflow the inlet and exhaust ports as well as playing with the manifolds
lap in and refit everything...
modify my maniflow mini exhaust and custom make an exhaust system 1.75 inch in diameter from the head downwards...

might stick with the standard weber throttle body for now although im not sure...

Re: 1991 uno 70 sx i.e

stripped out the rear end today to make it lighter and more of a van for when im out biking... stripping it down i noticed some muddy water stains coming down from the arches and found some petty large holes:/

will have to get my welder out soon... its a rather large hole...

Re: 1991 uno 70 sx i.e

Nice work!
I know that desperate feeling of finding large rust holes, which were in the same location in my Uno Turbo. With the carpet removed, I had a strange raining-inside-the-car effect when driving in the wet conditions typical of these parts.

I presume you've managed to seal the underside of the repairs

Re: 1991 uno 70 sx i.e

lol yeh got underneath... was some very good penetration on the welds for once which im pleased about:P currently red oxided it... but i shall then coat in hamerite and then underseal the arches and may as well waxoil the whole of the underneith whilst im under there as well...

i had the rain effect as well! sort of a weird horizontal rain against the back of your head? lol

I think everyone was thinking that before, but then you did all that work. Have you found more rust?
