The rf door opens itself when I go over a bump, and sometimes when I do not go over a bump!!

It seems to be shut properly, any ideas of what I should be looking at.

By the way very nice 1984 (Jan reg) with only 88000km on it. Needs a new thermostat, and the dreaded rust around the sunroof!, and some of the check lights are not working properly. But it goes nicely, no normal rattles and squeaks, where did they go!!

Sadly the colour does not impress me, green with brown interior.

No one has an answer, except me! I swapped the door lock, the mechanism that screws on the outside of the door, from my 1990 parts car and it is good now!!

But what goes on inside the lock mechanism. I would like to fix it. It looks like it is not supposed to be pulled apart!

The catch, screwed onto the outside, has a couple of pins that stick into the latch mechanism on the inside of the door. The pins release the catch. My guess is that the spring-loaded pieces that hold the catch closed were seized with corrosion or the spring was broken. Or, it wasn't just the two large countersunk screws loose, was it?

Glad you have fixed that dangerous fault, anyway :) I've also had to replace the catch, usually because the door won't close at all.

The colour grows on you. Look at it this way, it's not silver or silver blue and the interior isn't grey (like all 90's cars), it's something a little different ;) The interior's also not yellow-brown (caramel) like a Honda Civic - it's at least quite a dark-brown.

LOL-true, but I like the silver/blue ones, I have one of each of them too!

But yes, the car is in such good order I can not complain, except like I said, it does not have the mandatory Uno rattles and squeaks!!

No rust in the locks on this one. I will pull the lock apart and have a look.
