| Fixin UnoTurbo I sleeper | Re:bay Distributor I’m wondering why the other one for 1.0 has a blue cap on See :-http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...sPageName=WDVW That would just fit in my 10/93 999cc FIRE IE? Kind Regards,

| Back once again w'the... | No! I think you're right to be suspicious Louie, Either of the distributors shown won't fit a FIRE, so I think the description means "903cc engine". Look at the shape of the distributor base. It has a long drive gear and a long column-shape built into the distributor housing. This fits in the cylinder block of 903cc engines (I think) and the other one with the white cap would fit 1116cc/1301cc/1372cc/1498/1580cc engines, though the ignition timing advance might not be correct for all these applications. The FIRE has a much shorter distributor with a drive dog (not a gear) that fits onto the camshaft housing... though I'm sure you knew this, I just wanted to make sure that no-one else mixed them up! The part number on the box is the same as the description, so perhaps check the Haynes manual supplement, it gives the correct part number for each engine. I would question the seller as to exactly what is stamped into the distributor body... You take this risk when you buy parts this way... but I've got my eye on that other one with the right-angle cap - for my X1/9 ![]() Thanks, -Alex

| Back once again w'the... | ...I'd be very wary of trusting the described applications for these distributors (check the other listings of the same seller...) Obviously this is great 'stock' and the seller is unlikely to be making any deliberate errors. Parts books are often flawed, but I found this one ridiculous! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...530407869&rd=1 Now, the Alfa 164 2.0 Turbo is a V6. So, you don't need a parts book to tell you that the distributor will NOT be interchangeable with the Uno 45 903cc four-cylinder! :-D -Alex

Well spotted Alex and thanks for the warning That reminds me I still haven’t fitted the O Ring gasket. That’s the next job – stop the oil drips – so I’m still to see the distributor base lol.

| Back once again w'the... | Re: Distributor barging? Yeah I just realised I made a mistake in the other post and unfairly accused the seller of having the wrong description, when it might be correct... Uno 1.0 might actually be the 903cc engine, they carried on making those well after the FIRE was introduced! Even so, I stand by my other post, some of those descriptions are screwed! ![]() Remember that you have TWO seals to replace - the shaft seal inside the distributor body, and the O-ring around the outside of the housing (less likely to be the problem IMHO So, before you get around to the job, why not make sure that you have both seals... just an idea... I know how long it takes to get to these little jobs (particularly if the engine still goes!) and ya don't wanna be doin it twice... -Alex

| Fixin UnoTurbo I sleeper | 1.0 Ie?
I reckon you were right; only the later Mk 2 (OHC) FIRE wi IE carries a 1.0 badge (in UK). The 903 (0.9 cc OHV non-FIRE) would be on a 45 (cc) badge along with the non IE 999 Fire. Regards All,
