Re: Distributor O Ring Gasket?

Ah right, I had a quick look there first, couldnt see anything, but have now bought one from that link.
Will use the guide to see if I can fit it, but want the garage to clean all my oil away :D

Thanks!

Re: Distributor O Ring Gasket?

Just a little update. I noticed the older 5-speed box has the bell house’s timing inspection hole further left than on the C514 box. I’d guess this is why my oil leak missed the hole.

Regards All,

If this thread was read only after oil had seeped into the clutch (missing rubber bung), is there any way of getting the oil out without removing the gearbox? I was thinking of pouring something down the timing hole, petrol maybe, or a degreaser. Does the oil eventually burn off if you ride the clutch and get the plate as hot as possible?

Re: Uno Starting Problem (OIL LEAK CAM MOUNTED DISTRIBUTOR – FIRE ENGINE)

Not sure if this helps but, I have an 84 70s that sometimes has a clutch shudder. Every now and then I drive along the road and do the clutch test a couple of times and the shudder is gone for a few thousand kilometers. Very soon the engine and gbox is coming out to have a 1600 put in so the clutch will be renewed, rear main and front shaft seal will be ckecked and replaced if necessary and possible without too much work. I will keep the old one if it is OK and put it into my 60s.

The clutch test, driving along at about 40 kmph, dip the clutch and rev the engine, drop the clutch. Don't overdo this.

Umm..
Theres a thread about my silliness... where I poured a bottle of gearbox oil... into that hole thinking it would cure my stiff 1,3 and 5 gear changes.

Oh how they laughed.. :D

I didn't notice a single difference to the clutch if I'm honest :)

Yes, yes I know.. :D

Still haven't found the gearbox oil topping up hole yet either!

Try a big can of brake cleaner, sprayed in to drench it while someone operates the clutch (park on the grass). Might help, might not. The oil doesn't burn off but instead glazes the lining. If you get the oil off before this happens, it might work fairly well. Otherwise, prepare for a few hours' work (at least the clutch isn't too expensive).

Cheers Alex. That worked a treat. A rubber O ring and a $10 can of spray was a lot easier than a new clutch. Now what to do about the large patch of dead grass...mmm.:slayer:

I suggest you burn it.

no one will ever find it then ;)

Ah, that's easy. Buy some Roundup from The Warehouse and do the rest of the grass to match the dead stuff :D

Saves heaps of petrol and time as there's no need for mowing over the coming spring/summer months

I have new grass this year and already it's looking like needing quite a bit of maintenance, plus there are some areas where it hasn't grown yet.

Re: Distributor O Ring Gasket?

I need a new one of these for the LGD Uno, but that link doesn't work anymore.

Is this compatible as it is the only one I can find on ebay at the moment: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/CRANK-SHAFT-O...arts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item53e026bc69
