(G) help me please guys!

hi

my uno has a problem

when i drive my car for about an hour it will cut off and stop working as im driving it. The lights on the dash will come on but it just wont start when i try to start it al u can hear is the starter motor spinning up if u leave it for 5 10 mins itll go again

i have changd the distributor cap and rotor arm to no affect

theres a mas of wires behind the radio which are a little worrying but the majority are to do with the radio there is three wires that are loose not connected to ote but im not sure wat they are!!!!! they run up to the top of the dash of there abouts

my cars a 70 ie sx its got climate control i thought it mite be something to do with this!!!

help me if u can please!!

Welcome to the world of troublesome hot uno problems.

The suggested fix is a completely new distributor with new vacuum advance unit...

Have a nose through past problems for more details

...when it cuts out, grab spare spark plug, turn the motor....no spark means electrics aren't firing....BUT you'll notice that the car will start when it cools down, right?

We could drive our Uno FIRE 999 to Wales and back 'cos the wind on the motorway kept the engine cool...but drive the car in London traffic...and it would go die....

...replaced distributer and the electronics pack fitted to it (it tends to corrode) and the vacuum unit....and havn't had a problem since..

get a complete working distributor from a scrappie.. make sure its in good condition. its the wires in the electronic modual being corroded

the best thing to do mate in my opinion is to go to a scrap yard and check the distributor yourself. Because they might give you a faulty one as it happened twice to me. You are looking around £30-50

Yes i fitted it and all work perfect so far Thank you for reviving my uno mate.
As for the rest of the staff can we meet tomorrow?

can do but i wont have all of it out.. not the alternator and starter anyway... there awkward to get to and i havent had a chance... u can have the radiator and whaever else ive got off (cant remember exactly what u wanted off the top of my head).

i got it on order from my local dealer in derby 2day

a brand new complete distributor for wait for it 26 pounds plus vat

i was shocked i hope its the rite one now though lol

blimey thats cheap... u sure its the complete distributor and not just the cap? that sounds extremely cheap for fiat. specialy considering a scrap yard wont charge you less than £40

If its the right one go and get it asap. When I was looking for a new one they told me £150 +vat for the complete new distributor.

uno70, the derby fiat dealers are usually very very good! i've always reccomended them as im always getting bits and bobs from there lol!!
