hi . i have a prob with my 1299 uno . from time to time the cam timing jumps 1,2 some times 3 teeth ,this is on my autograss car and yes it does be reving at 7000 rpm (and she loves it :D )but for no reason it slips .belt is tensioned well pully bearing is good ,some have said that there is different types of belts and cam pullys ie .some have rounded teeth some more square ??? and ideas guys ???:bang:

Have you got a cambelt cover on it?
I had a problem with my Mitsubishi 4x4 diesel where the cambelt jumped a couple of teeth because bits of crap got under the cambelt and between the belt and crank pulley and helped it JUMP

Also has the cylinder head been skimmed?
Therfore making the centre to centre distance of the crank to cam pulleys slightly less . . . . and therefore a standard cambelt is slacker than normal?

If it was me I'd get a new cam belt and new tensioner and spring and make sure it is tensioned as tight as possible and maybe also an aftermarket vernier pulley so you know the cambelt pulley is in perfect nick and you can get the cam timing spot on

belt and all are ok cos have changed it before ,block and head are skimed but rules dont allow veriner pully in my class have cover on and although it is autograss tack is more dusty then anything we ran my wifes 1000cc panda with hole in belt and no cover and it screamed down straights @8000 rpm for 3 years :slayer:

panda is a fire and went like she was on fire i will never for get first day a raced itit just as fast as my uno it so light and turns in way better its narrow track helps every one had bets on i would roll her in first bend ,i did try but never stirred ha ha ha

uno runs a touque tube for low down power with su carb i worked well on that car used short one on latest car but going back to long one . panda runs in class 1a only southern ireland run that class you can have any 1000cc 8 valve front wheel drive ,its very popular class cos minis cost arm and leg . do you ever attented autogass meetings ??:D

I used to live in Worcestershire when I was a youngster
So Evesham & Stratford-upon-Avon were just down the road
Been to the Dodwell track to spectate more than a few times
Evesham Autograss Club

So from what you say there would be NO Class 1a in England using Panda Classic's then?

So in this country they just have Class1 with Cinquecentos and Citreon AX's and a few very old Minis...???

pandas unos micras could run in a class1a in uk but it would be down to clubs tryin to convince there league that they would like to run a class like this .clubs around york run a class called stockhatch . its any 1600 in standard form its a class between class 5 and 6 .

feck that was a lot of reading . i found the idea on an alfa with variable intake ,my uno needed more tourqe exiting bends so said would try i, only down side is 7000 rpm is hard to reach down the straight .its hard to have everything so going to play with shorter tubes this season .

That would be right. As I said my only experience is with 2 strokes.
If we wanted low down power we would lengthen the exhaust, inlet was fixed and illegal to change. Then we played with the gearing to suit the power curve.

The question always was, where to you most need the power or speed. It depended on the track. In your case there will be no point worrying about the 7000rpm unless they can pass you there.

But of course fine tuning is great fun. In the end there is usually compromise.

our intake and exhaust are free to play with :) but withfew exceptions :( cant touch head ports and has to have 32mm restrictor after carb :( and gears as standard so i have 10 sets of wheels to suit different tracks (y)
