Arrow 1.0 IE Air Vent Intake.

Hi all

Ever since I got my MK2 Uno, I have noticed a big increase in the amount of leaves and debris coming in with hot or cold air (compared to both my previous MK1 903s').

My step dad led me to believe there may be a pollen filter missing, and to get to it, I would need to remove the bonnet.

On an UNO in scrap yard yesterday, I removed its intake grill (from just below the windscreen) without removing the bonnet. To my surprise there was nothing.

– Nothing to stop leaves being sucked in to dry, brake up, blow around inside my dash for a while and end up all over the car and sometimes, from the central blowers, straight into my eye.

This noise is annoying and the leaf in my eye while driving is dangerous!!! I’ve had to pull over too many times to regain 20 20 vision. Also there is nothing to stop all the Manchester bus smog being sucked in, choking and poisoning me (see my smog rant thread about that).

Could I fit perhaps a filter designed for a Hoover or a dust mask inline somewhere down there to cure it? Perhaps a gas mask and goggles for me.

I also noticed on the breaker’s Uno there is a lot of mud and slime under this grill, below the windscreen filling the drain cannel. I think ill clean mine off ASAP – I hope there is no rust there (yet).

Regards,
Louie Bee.

Re: 1.0 IE Air Vent Intake.

Actually, we used a "breather mask" used by surgeons (or many chinese / japanese people on TV) as a filter on our Ritmo Abarth TC130 (Strada). Perfect pollen filter...

Re: 1.0 IE Air Vent Intake.

I want to do the same - a proper active carbon filter does make a difference.

Some Uno's came with a/c, so there must be a pollen filter fitting somewhere? Unless the a/c unit dealt with it itself.

One might need to buy the housing new etc., but that's it. I certainly did it in my non-a/c Marea.

Anyone know for sure what to do?

Nice one!

Carbon filter sounds better.

Ill ask my Dental technician friend. He gave us a wicked used dentist chair for the flat, but that’s off the subject.

Failing that, Ill ask one of the surgeons at work.

Regards,

Louie.

This is a problem that irritates me with my Mk2 Uno. I thought that it was just the Uno, but the Brava is even worse!
