(G) uni 1.0.i.e.

I ve just got uno 1.0 i.e. 98 and have a worry, I could hear a strange noise coming from the engine for very short period of time, mostly when idling and when the engine is cold.It looks like bzzzzzzzzzzz and stoped, engine is running smoothly and no problem. Any clue?

It wouldn't be the fan coming on would it?

the fan coming on when the car is cold? thats a new one...

I used to get a funny scraping type noise when changing revs, i.e. when I revved up, around I guess about 2.5k revs it made a bad noise. Lasted a year with it and not a problem, not even Dave had a fix for it (although we did try somethings).

Take out the spare wheel and check if it is any louder - sounds like it's the ignition coil. Nothing to worry about.

It’s not the front suspension mountain (just to right of radiator as you look from front) like on my 1.0 IE? That was more of a ringing sound though, but fixed with a piece for gaffer tape.

At idol, the heat shield (above exhaust) tends to shake a bit on mine, sounding more like your description.

I used to have a sort of buzzing noise while starting the car and it was the starter motor not disengaging from the engine. It only happened when starting the car when cold!! Could this be it??

Its a very short noise ie. only happens for 1/2 a second and sounds as if the car is sneezing!!hehe
