Question Leaky situation

hi guys,
I got a MAJOR problem. Last nite it rained and well I got water in the car. Luckily for me none of the carpets got wet...only the rubber mat got wet. Still though I was lucky enough because the rubber mat held all the water. If it had rained any more I think some water would have seeped onto the carpet. I found out from where the water is dripping...the water is coming in from under the dashboard driver's side (mine is a Mk2). Some of the wires are wet but that's it. Water seems to be coming from the A pillar. Any ideas from where the water may be entering?? This water is really drivin me nuts with water dripping on my foot. Please any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks in advance

Re: Leaky situation

Check that the door frame is making a good seal to the windscreen pillar.

Two ways to improve it:
(a) Take off rubber seal from metal flange, use mallet (soft hammer) to bend flange slightly outwards (so as to make the rubber seal more tightly against the door).
(b) Wind down the window, place a knee on door panel just below inside door handle/armrest, pull top of doorframe vigorously (ignore cracking sounds). Brutal, but you should find that doorframe fits tighter against bodyshell.

Consider having a windscreen shop reseal the windscreen, as that seems to create leaks in the area you mentioned.

Cheers,
-Alex

Re: Leaky situation

A similar problem I had with an old Uno turned out to be rust under the rubber runner on the roof. The water was leaking in, down under the upholstery and onto the floor. Unfortunately it's hard to track where water is coming from. Is the heater matrix ok?

Re: Leaky situation

yeah heater matrix is ok! I checked that rubber running along the roof and removed it but it was dry and there seems to be no rust at all!!

it hasnt rained again here yet so I'm still waiting.Im goin to apply a transparent sealer on the car soon around the windscreen rubber maybe that'll help! Also...I cant hose the car down with water because it doesnt work that way for some reason....even if I point the pipe straight into the gaps of the car no water comes in!! How frustrating is that??
