seat swap................

Hi all,

I've recently bought a 5 door mk2 fiat uno (45 1.0ie) with a grubby interior (torn seats etc). My question is this, will the front and rear seats from a 3 door uno fit in my 5 door? The reason i am asking is because there seems to be more 3 door cars at the breakers yards.

Thanks in advance,

Paul

...with the added bonus of tipping forward.
Remember to remove the seatbelt buckles or check them for compatibility.
Also I recall having to saw off some 'knobs' on the front cross-bar before being able to fit Uno Turbo seats into another Uno, so probably worth getting the strap-brackets with the seats, just in case.

Re: seat swap................

I have done this. You WILL need the clamps (those two in front) from your new seats due to the tilting. Get turbo seats for better comfort.

Morten.

Re: seat swap................

Later Mk2 seats are also better padded than early seats.

Re: seat swap................

Thought I'd post a quick update on how the seat swap progressed.

I ended up going for a rather fetching (ahem) red/blue check pattern from a late model mk2. It was a three door and as stated here you need the steel 'U' brackets which attach to the front bar at the base of the front seats. This is because the 3 door front seats have a little rod which sticks out of the bar. The 'U' bracket has a slot in it to accomodate the rod. The 5 door 'U' brackets have no slot therefore the rod can't poke through.

Now comes the good bit. I must have dropped one of the slotted 'U' brackets at some point in the scrap yard (Doh!). The problem was solved by grinding off the rod on the new seat and using the original 5 door bracket. A quick but effective modification (or bodge depending on your disposition!).

The back seat fitted perfectly as did a nice mk2 steering wheel (my original one had seen better days).

A quick aquavac later and the inerior is like new. All this for the princley sum of £35. Bargain.

Thanks again for all of the help,

Paul

Re: seat swap................

Hi guys could you help me.

The driver's seat of my UNO 1991 has seized up in reclining position OMG and my questions are:

1) where can I find help to fix it? Any garage or repair shop? A FIAT garage? Any other idea?

2) is it worth fixing or would you go for a replacement? If yes, where to buy a spare seat?

I live in Sussex, 60 miles from London

Cheers

Roberto
