| Rear suspension bushes??? Ive recently had my car lowered 60mm Im going to change the rear bushes but as the ride is fairly hard now, should i get polyurethane bushes or just change them for new original equipment ones? Polyurethane ones make the handling stiffer, right? as im worried the car might get 'skippy' over bumps in the road.

| NobodyBlamesTheHappyGuy:D | Re: Rear suspension bushes??? I would not suggest those pyletuhgh...damn word. When you have lowered it 60 mm, most of the stress is taken by chassis / body due to your rather short shocks and stiff coil springs. More Newtons will be forced through the suspension when you switch to plyethularan... bushes. I would go for the standard bushes as they are softer and will take som stress off the rest of the car's construction. Offf, this was difficult to translate. Morten.

| Back once again w'the... | Re: Rear suspension bushes??? chrisunoman, I thought I'd try a different tack, and attempt to consider the benefits of polyurethane bushes :-) Better location of the rear axle/reduced toe changes to rear wheels under braking - is all that I can come up with. Given that the rear axle is lightly loaded under braking anyway, I can't see that there would be any noticeable improvement. Also, as far as sideways deflection of the axle goes, I reckon you would have to load several tonnes of something into the hatchback in order for the rear wheels to be subjected to sufficient lateral forces, to really notice any unwanted steering effects with the standard bushes. So no, I think the standard bushes will suffice. But hang on a moment - they need replacing? Can you tell why - is it just old age/bad installation, or are you just being over-cautious ;-) I haven't seen any worn-out bushes yet! Thanks, -Alex
