(G) squeaks and squeals

My Uno's starting to annoy me now and I'm close to getting rid of it.

When driving along a sqealing nois is coming from the engine. Driving constantly the squeal builds up then stops, builds up then stops and so on. when I put my foot on the clutch to change gear there's a 'loose spinning noise' as though somethin's catching somewhere. When it's at rest its the same. don't know whether it's the alternater or what. though would it make a noise like that and when i press the clutch?

any ideas?

First of all...Dont get rid of ur uno! It looks real nice, secondly the squealing noises might be down to your waterpump, i had that problem with my uno a while back. I could be wrong though, it might be something else, unos always start to rattle and squeal especially if you have lots of i.c.e in the car. Rattles and squeaks can be hard to trace, my electric window motor used to rattle against the door metal behind the door card and i never could find it until i had my door card off by chance one day and saw it rattling. After finding the culprit i'm happy to say i've now put a stop to it and no more rattling
