I'm guessing a little but I think this is the 1116cc engine (not 1108cc?)
In which case (1116cc), why not take the pump body off the engine - in fact I'm pretty certain you have to do this anyway because pump impeller won't fit out between engine and engine bay side.
There are four bolts holding pump body on, plus two securing water pipe which you can reach with l-o-n-g socket extension working between exhaust and block. You will probably have to remove exhaust heat shield and alternator tensioner bracket in order to be able to remove pump body from block. Sorry, sounds difficult but I turned the job around in two hours.
Anyway those are just my ideas... ;-)
